For first-generation college graduates, imposter syndrome doesn’t just come from internal self-doubt. It’s inherited. It’s cultural. It’s systemic. TO SCHEDULE A FREE 15 MINUTE CONSULTATION VISIT: https://blackwomantherapist.me/request-a-consultation-1 You worked hard to “make it”—but deep down, part of you still feels like you arrived somewhere your nervous system was never taught to fully belong. When you’re the first in your family to move through colleges, graduate programs, and other institutional spaces that were unfamiliar to those who raised you, the pressure rarely stays confined to earning the degree. THERAPY CAN HELP: Together, we’ll quiet the doubt So you can feel at home in your own success. Through relational-cultural therapy and nervous system-based care (such as Brainspotting), we will work together to shift you from a place of persistent self-doubt to deep, grounded self-trust. Hello! Working with motivated clients who are curious about their own growth is my passion. Whether you’re in crisis, looking to expand your self-knowledge, improve your friendships or romantic relationships, or approaching a significant transition in your life, I’m here to work with you. Finding the right therapist is an important task, so I encourage you to meet with me as well as talk to other therapists before we begin, so you are confident I’m the right therapist for you. The most common experience that clients have with me is reaching (and exceeding) their therapy goals. I’ve had the honor of walking alongside clients who complete dissertations, improve their friendships, find romantic/ intimate connections, find meaningful work, recover and heal from significant trauma, leave behind unwanted behaviors, and more. I especially love working with young adults, because it is such a rich time of growth, possibilty and change. I encourage you to take the brave and important step of seeking therapy. I look forward to hearing from you!
I am a somatic psychotherapist and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress and trauma. Are you feeling worried all the time, have difficulty resting, or imagine worse case scenarios too often? Being in state of anxiety can interfere with focus, connection, compassion and curiosity. If you have been feeling this way for too long, it may be a sign that you need support beyond talking to a good friend or spending time with family. If you have been through a traumatic event, and you are not able to talk about it, or when you have it has not helped bring a big enough sense of relief, you may need a trauma informed approach to therapy. I can help you learn gentle and effective ways to process big emotions and scary experiences. I offer a body oriented (somatic) approach where I help draw attention to the mind-body connection and guide you to access the resources within and around you.
I'm an EMDR-trained therapist specializing in complex PTSD and relational trauma – the kind that rewires how we love and how we see ourselves. I help young adults and couples heal from attachment wounds, abandonment issues, sexual trauma, infidelity, and anxious-avoidant relationship cycles. I work from a psychodynamic and trauma-informed lens, drawing from IFS, DBT, and ACT. Therapy with me is collaborative – together, we’ll process what’s beneath the surface to shift the core beliefs keeping you stuck. I’ll meet you where you are… and push you when you’re ready. This is a space where you don’t have to perform. If something here resonated with you, that probably isn’t a coincidence. Reach out to schedule a free consult. :)
College can be an exciting but overwhelming time—balancing academics, relationships, future goals, and mental health isn’t always easy. At Praxis, I provide integrative psychiatric care that supports college students in navigating these challenges. My approach combines medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic strategies to help you feel more grounded, focused, and in control of your well-being. As both a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I bring a unique blend of expertise to my work. I started my career as a therapist, helping people explore their emotions, relationships, and personal growth. Now, as a psychiatric provider, I integrate medication management with therapy, offering a well-rounded approach that supports both mental and emotional health. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, ADHD, depression, or the stress of major life transitions, my goal is to provide personalized, evidence-based care that fits your needs. My approach is collaborative, meaning we’ll work together to find the right combination of strategies—whether that’s therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or a mix of all three. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. At Praxis, you’ll have a space where you can explore what’s going on, feel understood, and develop tools to move forward with confidence.

You’ve taken the first step towards healing, which is often one of the most difficult. Thank you for being vulnerable and allowing me into your space. The world changed, and so did all of us…and that is okay! I am here to partner with children, teens, young adults, adults, and couples towards achieving healing and fulfilment, however that may look to you. My You-Centered approach places you at the helm of your journey, as we use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological System, and other mindfulness management strategies to transform this moment. Together, we will combine these theories when discussing matters concerning goals/aspirations, relationships, interpersonal struggles, depression, self-esteem, executive functioning, stress management, phobias and fears, and substance use concerns.
I am inspired to work in the field of mental health care to support and validate individuals who maybe having a difficult time navigating through the stressors of life. I want individuals to live not just to exist. Active listening and validation is important for every individual in a therapy session. I not only practice active listening but ensure that I have heard not only the words but the emotion and intent from the client. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship starts with active listening and empathy. I want the individual to understand that therapy at times may bring up strong and difficult emotions and I will be there through this journey. Therapy is a safe space to explore the past, present and future without judgement.
I know how difficult it can be when lack of motivation, worry, or stress keeps you from living the life you want. That's why I use evidence-based techniques to help you bring the color back to life. I specialize in academic stress, life transitions (like entering college or getting ready to graduate), work-life balance, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and perfectionism. I take an individualized approach to therapy by prioritizing client goals, celebrating client's unique cultural traditions, and integrating relevant diversity and contextual factors into treatment. Clients who work with me describe me as compassionate, validating, and a great accountability partner. As a queer identifying clinician, I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and have developed and led trainings in affirming care across the country. I also have specific expertise in gender issues, where I've helped clients unlearn unhelpful myths about gender and reimagine gender roles that no longer serve them. I strongly value a holistic approach to care which includes paying attention to often overlooked aspects of health such as sleep, chronic pain, and finding joyful ways of moving your body. I work from a health-at-every size perspective to help individuals learn to appreciate, love, and thrive in their own body.
I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with training and experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan in outpatient clinics and inpatient hospitals.
