Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
Many of the students I work with are used to handling things on their own. They're hardworking, care deeply about the people around them and often put a lot of pressure on themselves to keep everything together. From the outside, they may seem like they're doing fine, but inside they're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or unsure of what comes next. If you're looking for a therapist who will listen without judgment, help you make sense of what you're experiencing and work alongside you to create meaningful change, we may be a good fit. You don't have to have everything figured out before you start therapy, just a willingness to show up.
Welcome to Healing Hearts & Minds, where healing begins with grace, compassion, and purpose. I believe therapy should be a place where you can come exactly as you are—without the pressure to have everything figured out or pretend you're okay. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, or simply feeling overwhelmed, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. I believe people are far more than a diagnosis or the hardest season of their lives. My approach is relational, collaborative, and practical. Together, we'll work to understand not only what brought you to therapy, but also the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck. As trust develops, we'll gently challenge those barriers while building healthy coping skills, confidence, and resilience. My hope is that therapy becomes more than a place to manage symptoms. I want it to be a place where you rediscover your authentic self, learn to trust yourself again, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with confidence and purpose. Whether you're seeking support for a temporary life challenge or a longer healing journey, you'll be met with grace, compassion, and genuine care every step of the way.

Dawn specializes in developmental (what happened to you when you were a kid) and relational (what hurt you in relationships) trauma through the lens of attachment helping you look at your relationships with clear eyes. Often we bring into our relationships ways of being that while helpful when we were younger now may no longer serve us. Therapy can build on the strengths you already have and disrupt those that are no longer useful. In addition to working with trauma Dawn works with individuals to cope with adjustment/life transitions, anxiety, identity concerns and relationship concerns. Dawn utilizes a variety of therapy modalities including: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), EFIT (Emotion Focused Individual Therapy) IFS (Internal Family Systems)-informed/DNMS (Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy), Mindful Self Compassion and Somatic practices. She comes from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective and will collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that honors all aspects of your identity. Dawn is passionate about working people with marginalized and intersecting identities and strongly believes that the things that make us different are often our super powers. Works with individuals 20+
Hello, my name is Kenneth Wilson, am I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I served over 22 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force. My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); however, the most critical aspect is the quality of the therapeutic relationship and collaboration. I love working with the military and adult population. I have had training in Trauma, Anxiety, Anger and Mood Disorders.
Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. My name is Allia (she/her), and for my clients, I provide a safe and healing place to grow. For the past four years, I’ve worked as a therapist and advocate for child and adult survivors of abuse and sexual assault. And through this work, I have honed my skills in helping people through trauma, transitions, self-worth issues, and identity. I work with a wide range of clients and survivors and particularly gravitate towards individuals within the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and young adults. Each person is different and thus, each treatment plan is individualized to meet that person’s needs. And in working together, I will follow your lead and meet you where you are. I look forward to working together!
My goal as a therapist is to support you during difficult life transitions. These transitions may include starting college, searching for jobs, adjusting to roommates, and exploring gender and sexuality for yourself. Transitions and changes may evoke a sense of grief and loss, regardless if it's positive, negative, or neutral. As a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, I can help you with the difficult emotions that are associated with these changes. Our sessions would focus on finding the root of your symptoms, processing your grief, and starting your healing journey. Although my specialty is grief and loss, I address a wide variety of concerns, including emotional regulation, managing anxiety and depression, healing from childhood trauma, and increasing resilience. Often, our symptoms can be traced back to the losses and trauma experienced in our lives. I often utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy to treat these symptoms as well. Do you experience anxiety, depression, or dealing with distressing or traumatic events that are causing you to feel stuck? Are you experiencing an unhealthy relationship with food or body image? Do you feel like you are dealing with toxic relationships or patterns that are keeping you from living your best life? Therapy can provide support in helping you find a balanced relationship with food and body image, as well as find ways to manage overwhelming emotions and traumatic events. It can help bring awareness to the reasons why you are experiencing these challenges and provide a space for healing. In therapy, we work collaboratively to understand your experiences as well and find ways to navigate through them. Regardless of approach, the therapeutic relationship we build together is the most important component for successful outcomes. Connection is key! We will explore your experiences from your perspective in a non-judgmental and compassionate way, then find recognized and innovative therapies that best fit your needs. I have training in evidence-based techniques that incorporate specific tools, strategies and goals, including psychodynamic, interpersonal, CBT, attachment-based and Mindfulness approaches. I also work to raise awareness of ways in which your body may hold distressing experiences in unspoken ways. Some of my clients enjoy experience-based therapeutic approaches - like those in the art therapy group I’ve led for over 11 years. And if you just need someone to talk to, and process things with, I believe one of the most important experiences for a person is just to be heard and validated. Let’s look at the range of tools available to us and then help you find your unique path to holistic healing and meaningful peace. I have over 15 years experience as a Clinical Psychologist. I have worked in a range of treatment settings from inpatient, intensive outpatient, counseling centers, and private practice. Areas of specialization include disordered eating from restrictive patterns to overeating, binge eating, and emotional eating, as well as bulimia and body image disturbances. I have a passion for helping survivors of abuse and domestic violence. I also work with a range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I use evidence-based techniques including mindfulness and CBT, as well as incorporate creative and more dynamic strategies to facilitate the healing process. I am passionate about working with people of all sexual orientations, self-identification or lifestyles. It is my belief that it is our differences and unique perspectives that can bring the greatest healing. It takes much strength and courage to seek therapy and bring voice to difficult truths. The goal for therapy is to help support the changes that you wish to make and learn to internalize the strategies and tools needed to continue on with a happy and healthy life without the need for therapy. It would be an honor to join you on your journey.
Using a client-centered approach in an accepting and caring environment, I enjoy working with those who experience issues from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, women's issues, and life transitional issues, such as marriage, separation, and divorce. We can work together to develop your individual goals to reach your greatest potential of well-being. I utilize the most current evidence based treatments in my practice to promote healing of the body and mind. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs! I received EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training in 2016 and have been an EMDR certified therapist since 2018 and have been trained to utilize ego states and cognitive interweaves, flash technique, and other evidence based strategies within EMDR. I also utilize a client-centered approach with various treatment modalities in addition to EMDR to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relaxation and Stress Management Techniques, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Memory Reconsolidation in Trauma Therapy. I would love to meet with you to see if I would be a good fit for your needs!
Hi, I’m Jenn Robson, a counselor who helps college students manage anxiety, pressure, and life transitions. Whether you’re struggling with stress, burnout, relationships, or feeling lost in this season of life, you don’t have to figure it out alone. My style is supportive, real, and practical—so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control.
At Stillwell Athens, we offer both individual counseling and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to support college students and all young adults who are navigating emotional, relational, or life transitions. We provide different levels of care so clients can access the amount of support they need, whether that’s weekly therapy or more structured, consistent treatment, without stepping away from school, work, or daily responsibilities. Our approach is relational, developmentally informed, and evidence-based. We work with individuals, couples, and families using modalities such as CBT and DBT, alongside experiential and creative approaches when appropriate. We regularly support college students and young adults adjusting to independence, academic or career stress, and relationship challenges, as well as adults and parents managing changing family dynamics, identity shifts, and major life decisions. For those who need more than individual therapy alone, our IOP provides increased structure, group support, and clinical care while remaining fully outpatient. This option is well-suited for clients who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in need of additional accountability and connection. 10-15 hours of therapeutic support per week. At Stillwell, we focus on helping our clients build insight, develop practical skills, and strengthen the supports that allow for meaningful, sustainable change. You don't have to put your life on hold or compromise your mental health and wellbeing.
I try to create a welcoming and comfortable environment to provide support and encouragement. Life often feels like it ought not be this difficult, let me help you work through this stage of life and get on a road that will lead to happy life for you.
I work primarily with men seeking to better understand themselves as they navigate life and relationships. We can talk about personal, relational, sexual, or spiritual concerns as needed. Mostly this is space for you to learn through our shared dialogue how to connect with your inner world and live with greater freedom, power, and love throughout your life.

I provide counseling in Dallas, Georgia, and online therapy across Georgia. It’s not always easy to ask for help, and I recognize the courage it takes to share your personal thoughts with someone new. I create a safe and supportive space where you can talk openly, explore what’s holding you back, and learn tools to shift unhelpful thought patterns toward greater clarity, balance, and peace. Whether it's your first time in therapy or you're looking to build on the work you've already started, you do not have to do it alone. I'm the first person in my family to graduate from high school, and I have an authentic, lived understanding of adversity. As someone who's personally experienced the benefit of therapy and self exploration, I've now landed here and hoping to get to work with you. The goal of my space is a mixture of “kick off your shoes” and “get ready to roll up your sleeves.” Meaning, is it important that you feel met with empathy and free of judgment, while also understanding that growth involves effort and sometimes discomfort. I take a trauma-informed approach to help you explore how past experiences may be shaping your present patterns. Using an eclectic approach and somatic practices, we’ll work together to build insight, enhance self-awareness, and self-compassion. Progress can look like feeling more present, more in control, and more connected to yourself. I believe change begins with being heard and understood. I want to help you, help yourself.
