Imagine actually ENJOYING therapy. Imagine looking forward to therapy each week because your therapist "gets" you and works with you in a down-to-earth way to address your goals. Since therapy is an intense process that tackles intense issues, we believe it should also include authenticity (on our part), humor, and flexibility. We love working with college students and are energetic, creative, and hands-on. We'll work together to design a personalized approach to address your specific goals. Our therapists specialize in a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, LGBTQ+ identities, and health challenges.
Having worked in both academic and corporate environments, my current work as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner has evolved from observing students’ and colleagues’ challenges and successes and their relationship to emotional health and ability to focus on daily and long-term goals. As a result of my Yale, Duke, Tufts and MGH psychiatric training, I’ve honed my observations into effective working theories about the biopsychosocial factors that influence peoples’ vitality and well-being. If you're currently struggling with academic, professional or emotional obstacles, I believe I can help. My practice involves the diagnosis and treatment of multiple mental health conditions including: ADHD, ANXIETY and DEPRESSION with a focus on compassionate, culturally sensitive, SUPPORTIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY and MEDICATION MANAGEMENT for adolescents and adults. If you’re struggling with a mental health condition and need help with medication management, or simply want assistance with improving your mental well-being, please contact me for a private consultation. Initial appointments last about an hour with follow-ups taking less time. If you’d like to discuss living a more balanced life, please give me a call.
Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathleen McGah and I offer a comfortable, confidential space for teens, college-age students and young adults to talk about whatever is on their mind, at one's own pace, and without judgment. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. Only you will know if you are ready. If you have been struggling and think it would be good to meet with a therapist, though, please reach out.

Are you ready to make a difference?

My goal is to guide you in understanding what interferes with living a fulfilling life. I believe change is possible, no matter the circumstance, and I will support you through your journey of growth and self-discovery. My experience with the healing process has solidified the importance of consistent, genuine care, creating a space to pursue what it is you desire and find to be meaningful. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Life Coach, my approach is primarily relational, focused on the cultural considerations of an individual. Although we cannot avoid suffering, learning to cope with it is possible. As we become curious and explore beliefs, experiences and relationships, we will discover meaning to move forward with renewed purpose. I use theoretical practices such as behavioral, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic, strengths-based with a trauma and attachment lens. Additionally, I am specialized in sexual trauma and utilize techniques to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression, build skills to regulate emotions and transform unhealthy behaviors. I am a Psychodynamic Couple and Family Institute of New England trainee.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in diagnostic assessments and evaluations and psychotherapy. Within our practice, I supervise graduate level trainees who provide individual psychotherapy and assessment. We assess clients with a diverse range of clinical difficulties (e.g., Autism Spectrum, developmental/learning disabilities, psychiatric conditions, traumatic brain injury, ). As a clinician, my overarching goals are to help clients and their families assess for diagnoses that will inform treatment and advocate for supportive accommodations and/or services. I approach clinical work from a multicultural perspective and am strongly oriented with a humanistic, person-centered framework. Our clinicians bring experience, expertise and a team approach to diagnosing and treating. If an adult needs to see more than one clinician (e.g., individual, couples work), we work together to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.
Your voice and perspective as a woman or girl are celebrated here. This is a dedicated space where you can be comfortable discussing female centered topics and experiences. I believe that social interactions, societal stresses and unique biology impact girls and women in ways that require a female centered lens for mental health treatment. Coming to therapy knowing this is a specialized practice can lead to greater comfort exploring trauma and female specific issues. These deeper conversations build the therapeutic alliance and increase the potential that women and girls will see improvement in their mental health symptoms

If you are someone who is struggling to navigate the intricate web of school/work, family, and relationships, I am here to help. Many college students find themselves feeling stuck, dwelling on the past, or consumed by worries about the future, making it difficult to remain present and truly engage with and take control of their lives and their futures. I meet clients exactly where they are at, offering empathy and understanding, and working collaboratively to promote integration, well-being, and positive change. My approach starts with building a strong relationship, and I draw from a diverse toolkit, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy, tailoring our sessions to the client's specific needs. All narratives are unique and it is an honor to have your stories shared with me. I value humor and patience and work to create a safe and open environment with my clients. Suffering is embedded and essential to the human spirit--it allows us to gain perspective, wisdom, and insight. I like to find the light in dark times and help cultivate and grow that light for when we face our next challenges. I will let you know why I am asking about certain areas of your life and will fully and transparently narrate my process so that we can work collaboratively and openly.
I provide therapy to those looking for support in navigating life stressors or mental illness. I work with my clients to identify and define core values, and explore where there is space in their life to embrace these beliefs more effectively. l utilize elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to examine thought patterns and how they are impacting emotions and behaviors. I provide a non-judgmental space in which clients can set goals for change or have support in coping with challenges. l believe that therapy is most effective when it is a true partnership between the therapist and the client. I hope to establish an atmosphere of safety and exploration in which clients can process and examine their inner dialogue, as well as feel open to new perspectives and feedback.
