If this is your first time looking for a therapist, or continuing your journey into self discovery finding someone to connect with may feel like a difficult task. I believe that the most important step in finding success in therapy is connecting with someone who understands you and can hear your perspective and respectfully challenge your thought process. Whether you are someone who comes to this setting thinking, “I don’t even know where to start,” or are coming with a list of tasks to begin working on, I would enjoy getting to know you As a previous director of a college counseling center I have experience working with teens, college age students, and young adults stepping out on their own and trying to discover who they are. Specifically working with LGBTQIA+ population on learning what their identity means in a new environment. As an adoptive parent and social worker I also have experience working with parents or teens who have had experience in foster care or adoption. My approach is person centered, and strength based. I have spent the last 15 years working in non-profit health centers and hospitals. I hold a Masters Degree in Social Work (2010), and licensed in MA and OR

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a deep passion for working with young adults. I believe the early adult years are some of the most important—and often most misunderstood—seasons of life. Rather than something to simply “get through,” I view this stage as a powerful period of identity formation, growth, and possibility. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After spending a year living abroad, I went on to receive her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University. Throughout my graduate training and post-master’s clinical work, I have supported youth and families across a range of settings, including in-home therapy, group home care, outpatient clinics, and municipal mental health. I understand that young adulthood can feel overwhelming—whether it’s anxiety, relationships, school, or simply trying to figure things out. Therapy with me is a place to slow things down and make sense of what’s going on. Sessions feel like a real conversation, where clients can explore their experiences, connect patterns, and develop strategies that are actually useful in everyday life. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable, understood, and supported as they navigate this stage.

I help folks ages 18+ in NY, CT, OR, and FL who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. I am a compassionate and nonjudgmental therapist who prioritizes creating a space in which my clients feel “held,” heard, and helped. My approach is personalized, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. My practice is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and utilizes a range of techniques including awareness of sensations in the body, narrative interventions, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and that meaningful transformations take place in the context of safe and supportive relationships, when we feel seen, understood, and accepted unconditionally. Together, we will process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to reduce suffering and increase joy, fulfillment, and success. The bottom line: I meet you where you are—with patience, warmth, kindness, and insight. I will assist in identifying and strengthening your own inner resources and wisdom, so we can work more effectively with challenges and pain on the road to a more satisfying life. Making the decision to come to therapy can be a powerful one. I support individuals navigating the various pressures and stresses in their lives. I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. In session, clients feel a space free of judgment where they can reconnect with their authentic selves. With that in mind, I approach sessions in a collaborative way with the hopes of building self-esteem and personal agency. In our sessions, you'll feel like you're part of a team and not up against the problem alone. I also help college students, young working professionals, and athletes manage all that comes with being in a high-pressured environment. My own experience as a collegiate athlete taught me the values of teamwork, resilience, and overcoming anxiety and self-doubt-- all qualities I aim to pass along to my clients. For all clients, mindfulness may be an important part of our work. I bring in tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as traditional talk therapy to help you establish healthy boundaries, control overwhelming emotions, and stay grounded in the present moment. I also have a special interest in working with athletes transitioning to life after their sports career. My training as a yoga teacher helps me to deeply understand the mind-body connection, and how identity can get tied up athletic performance. I’ll help you develop a new daily routine, find meaningful ways to incorporate exercise at a lower level, manage fluctuating mood, and develop strong relationships outside of sports. Our sessions will feel like you are supported in taking action steps in your life. I am here to listen and provide accountability with changes you are hoping to make in your life.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The students who tend to find their way to me have usually already tried something - a therapist, a medication, maybe both, and it helped a little, or not at all, or worked for a while and then stopped. They're not starting from scratch. They're starting from tired. I work well with students who look fine on the outside but are running on empty internally. Students who've been told they have anxiety when what they actually have is undiagnosed ADHD that's been burning through their reserves for years. Students with depression that hasn't responded to standard antidepressants and who need someone willing to look further. Students with OCD who've spent years being misunderstood or only partially treated. I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner, which means I do evaluations and medication management — I'm not a therapist. What makes my approach different is that I look at the full picture before making any recommendations: your history, what you've already tried, your sleep, your biology, whether there might be a different explanation for what you're experiencing than the one you've been given. I see students via telehealth in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Washington, and in person at my Mesa, AZ office. I'm also licensed in Colorado, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont if you're in one of those states. Most major insurance accepted, including many student health plans. New patients usually seen within a few days. Booking: https://mindgardenmhs.intakeq.com/booking
