College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.
Hi! I’m Jocelyn, a psychiatric nurse practitioner passionate about supporting women and anyone who identifies with womanhood through life’s ups and downs. I specialize in helping clients manage ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I have a special interest in perinatal mental health. College and young adulthood can bring so many transitions—new responsibilities, shifting identities, and sometimes overwhelming stress. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you can feel seen and supported. In our sessions, I combine medication management with brief, solution-focused therapy to help you better understand your mind, build coping skills, and feel more balanced day to day. I especially enjoy working with BIPOC, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ students and young adults who are exploring growth, healing, and self-discovery.
My practice is based in Lexington, MA, where I provide both in-person and virtual treatment. I specialize in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, typically meeting more frequently to support deeper work. Therapy begins by reflecting on your experiences, with an effort to understand them rather than judge them. I take a compassionate approach to exploring your problems, your desire for change, and your difficulties in making changes. Through better understanding your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships, it may become possible to make more informed and meaningful choices. I am collaborative and flexible in my approach, looking for ways to work well together. I provide brief consultations for those seeking help thinking through specific challenges, gaining a professional perspective, or developing strategies for change. When people are struggling in their attempts to do things differently, I aim to help figure out what is getting in their way, a process that can take time but often leads to greater clarity. A therapeutic relationship with someone you trust can be an important path toward self-understanding and emotional relief. Because therapy is a deeply personal experience, it's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable working with. I welcome you to contact me if you're curious to see if this might be a good fit.
Regardless of your reasons for seeking therapy, it is vital that you feel understood and supported as you begin this process. Together, we will explore the forces that are keeping you stuck and help you cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. Using a variety of techniques including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral interventions, our work together will be tailored to your unique needs. My therapeutic approach is characterized by warmth, curiosity, and flexibility. I have postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and DBT. My past work experiences have included the Outpatient Trauma Clinic at McLean, the Outpatient Psychiatry Department at MGH, and the Psychiatry Department at New York Presbyterian. PMHNP stands for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment of common mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, and mood disorders. I prescribe medication when it is clinically appropriate, as it can be an essential component of a comprehensive treatment plan for many mental health conditions. My approach emphasizes collaboration and informed consent. Any medication decisions are made together, ensuring the patient feels comfortable and supported in his/her/their care. Once prescribed, medications are carefully monitored and adjusted as needed to ensure both safety and effectiveness. Rather than focusing only on symptom management, I take a functional, root-cause approach to understanding each person’s presentation. I am currently completing a functional medicine fellowship to deepen this work, and integrate these principles into my care. This includes using lab testing to uncover underlying imbalances, supporting wellness through nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, and incorporating nutraceuticals or supplements when appropriate to promote lasting improvement.
My approach to therapy is highly warm and collaborative. I tailor evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, ACT-informed) that align with my patients expressed personal goals, unique experiences, background/culture, and spiritual beliefs. I have specialty training in behavioral medicine, and hold a philosophy of care grounded in the reciprocal mind/body connection. I have particular specialty in treating physical health conditions through psychological interventions including chronic pain and medically unexplained physical symptoms; however, I support clients with an array of other presenting concerns (Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Stress, Eating. Disorders).
As a clinician, I seek to develop a strong rapport with my clients to promote a collaborative treatment process. I help my clients learn more about themselves and better identify their emotional and therapeutic needs. I believe the opportunity for my clients to develop a sense of agency, and identify how to take action when faced with difficult situations, is key to self-empowerment and growth. I work with my clients to gather information about themselves and their situations, to learn to reflect on their emotions and behaviors in a nonjudgmental way, and to build their confidence to make positive decisions in their life.
I have been a practicing psychologist for the past 23 years. I have a warm and informal style which I believe serves my clients well. I use techniques that best fit the needs of my clients. I have an active, directive approach in my clinical work. I do not hesitate to give direct feedback and advice to my clients, and will give homework to clients when necessary. At the start of therapy, I prefer to see clients weekly or once every other week in order to establish continuity in the therapy. I have experience providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and elderly clients. I specialize in cognitive and cognitive-behavioral techniques for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and childhood and adult ADD/ADHD. I also employ an Associate Clinician who works with me on a part-time basis. My broad range of experience and skills will help you to move forward to reach your goals with the issues that bring you to therapy. I have had many successes treating children, adolescents and adults, and look forward to working with you.
