Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Cameron Weaver Vilain (they/them) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. They received their Masters of Social Work from Salem State University in 2024, having graduated summa cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 2017. Cameron looks forward to meeting you at this unique moment in your healing journey! They are an intuitive and enthusiastic individual with a passion for assisting courageous individuals who have reached out for emotional support. They bring a spirit of mutuality, collaboration, warmth, and humor to their approach, and will tailor sessions to your unique needs and treatment goals. Whether it is your first time or hundredth time in a psychotherapy setting, together you will seek to co-create a safe and open space to unpack, process, heal, and grow. Although Cameron enjoys working with a variety of ages and populations, they have a particular passion for college students, emerging adults, and the LGBTQ community. Their specialties include queer and trans issues, identity exploration, anxiety disorders, depression, psychotic disorders, and adjustment to adulthood. Based on the preferences and needs of their patients, Cameron typically integrates an eclectic mix of DBT, CBT, social justice-oriented intersectional feminism, relational cultural theory, expressive arts, peer support-based principles, and trauma-informed practice into their conversations. When they are not working, Cameron enjoys foraging for wild foods in nature, riding their longboard along the bike path, and attending concerts and festivals. At home, they frequently cook meals for their friends and family, do arts and crafts, and their feisty cat Chessie never fails to keep them on their toes.
I often work with students who want help with anxiety, depression, self esteem, sleep disorders, and relationship issues.

Hi! My name is Jackie. I have been working in the field of counseling/psychology for the last several years. I have worked with a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and presenting concerns in many different settings (medical hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, community centers, and public schools). I am passionate about working with young adults, especially those who are navigating through college. That specific period in life can come with numerous transitions, hardships, and decisions to make. If you feel overwhelmed by all of it, therapy is a great place to start. My initial consultation is free, and I tailor to each person's unique needs. Don't hesitate to reach out, even if it's just with a couple of questions about the process!
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over fifteen years of working with individuals, groups, and families. I believe that healing can come through the development of mindfulness, in the empowering of ourselves through self-awareness, the constructive exploring of our relationships with others, and taking the time to create peace and clarity in this complex chaotic world. During our time together, I hope to provide an environment for you to revive your joy, feel whole versus disjointed, and seek to create a balance between challenge and kindness for yourself. I have extensive experience with relationship issues, parenting, anxiety, stress management, adjustment, grief or loss, and trauma. I recognize that reaching out to begin this journey is a brave and important step. I am aware of the privilege it is to accompany you.
Hi, I’m Molly Johnson and I’m a licensed therapist in both Massachusetts and Minnesota. I’m passionate about helping people heal, deepen their insight, and become more skillful in how they live their life. While I previously offered in-person therapy, I now work exclusively through virtual sessions. Many clients begin with some hesitation, but soon find that virtual therapy feels just as connected and supportive as being in the room together. My therapeutic approach draws from DBT, CBT, and other evidence-based practices, but at the heart of my work is a genuine listening ear, attentive presence and someone who is cheering you on!
My practice focuses supporting people in clarifying their values and in living lives that realize their deepest values. I believe that there are many ways to be mentally healthy, and I pursue a pluralistic view of mental health, one which varies from person to person. I aim to be a patient and supportive companion for you to determine what is important to you and to make meaningful change. I have worked as a professor at a number of universities in the US and abroad, and I have also worked as a social worker for young adults with mental illness. My academic and psychiatric experience makes me an ideal fit for working with students (undergraduate or graduate) who are facing life transitions or mental health challenges. Therapy is an exciting journey and it is always a pleasure to meet new or potential clients. I look forward to hearing from you.
Welcome. My name is Kate, and I offer psychodynamically oriented, trauma-informed, compassionate, and affirming therapy to folks of all kinds. I work with people across the lifespan, many of whom identify as queer and/or neurodivergent and are trying to make sense of a world that can feel overwhelming. Some are living with long-term stress, trauma, anxiety, or depression, while others are seeking support with life transitions, relationships, or family dynamics. I also offer clinical supervision. Clients often value working with me when they feel ready to explore their inner world more deeply—to better understand the hopes and fears beneath relational and behavioral patterns that increase suffering. I also regularly offer skills-based techniques, drawing from DBT, to help with in-the-moment management of distress and emotional overwhelm. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to a successful experience. My hope is to provide every client with a safe, supportive space to explore, learn more about themselves, feel truly seen, heard and accepted, build new skills, grow, and reconnect with who they really are. I look forward to connecting with you.

Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathleen McGah and I offer a comfortable, confidential space for teens, college-age students and young adults to talk about whatever is on their mind, at one's own pace, and without judgment. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. Only you will know if you are ready. If you have been struggling and think it would be good to meet with a therapist, though, please reach out.

You deserve a therapist who really sees you, not just your symptoms. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who specializes in anxiety, depression, relationships, and trauma across the lifespan. My approach is warm and collaborative, rooted in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices like CBT and DBT. I also incorporate creativity, mindfulness, and the things that matter to you, whether that’s music, art, sports, or storytelling. Before opening my private practice, I served as the Clinical Program Director of a Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) unit, where I supported individuals in acute mental health crises. Prior to that, I worked as a Trauma-Focused sports-based clinician and Program Coordinator, integrating play, movement, and expressive arts to help clients heal in ways that felt empowering and culturally responsive. I've also worked with perpetrators and victims of domestic violence and co-authored publications on Alzheimer's research in medical journals. Across every setting, my focus has always been the same: creating a safe, personalized space that focuses on the client's needs. My practice is exclusively telehealth for your convenience and privacy. I welcome adults (18+) seeking meaningful support, not just surface-level solutions. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, I believe that the best approach to therapy is a collaborative, integrated model that meets the needs of the person sitting before me. As your therapist, I am here to learn about you – your experiences, relationships, and insights – to help you understand different themes that may be contributing to your current stressors. In order to get the most from the therapeutic experience, I strongly believe the patient has to be an active participant in the work. Together we will assess the best steps to take based on your personal strengths and abilities. My hope is that through our work you feel more confident, secure, and connected to yourself, your relationships, and your goals. To reach these goals, I incorporate various evidence-based practices to help guide our work such as CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. These tools will allow us to explore how patterns may be impacting your life and provide opportunities to identify your strengths. This information will be the foundation for our work to grow upon knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals. If you are open to learning more and ready to engage therapy, please reach out to me today for more information.
