My particular areas of interests include (but are not limited to): depression/anxiety, life transitions, college mental health, LGBTQIA+ issues, emotion regulation, and family work. I have significant experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, working with children on the autism spectrum, and children/family work. I also have extensive training in risk assessments, individual, group, and family therapy. I approach each person/group as unique and will tailor my techniques/practices appropriately. My graduate work was with a concentration on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also utilize techniques such as mindfulness, motivational interviewing, strength-based therapy, coping skill training, etc.
Anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders ARE treatable. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life transitions when fear, panic, and OCD interfere with daily functioning and longer-term progress. With compassion and experience, I aim to empower you to overcome obstacles, develop resilience, and achieve emotional well-being. I use evidence-based treatments of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), as well as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help you experience symptom relief and work toward future goals. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, recognizing the immense physical and emotional challenges that accompany pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause. Having raised three children of my own (ages 17, 21, and 23), I have developed a mature perspective on problem-solving and empowering other women toward strength and adaptability. I offer support to parents around parenthood, raising young children and teenagers, and approaching and managing “empty” nests. I also have experience working with children and adolescents struggling with acute anxiety. I hold an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and am pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Boston College. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around me and have a long-standing dedication to community and volunteer work.

Alaina guides clients in living more authentically, encouraging them to embrace their true selves and pursue paths aligned with their values and aspirations. Alaina's aim is to cultivate a strong rapport with clients, establishing a safe and trusting environment conducive to meaningful change.
I am passionate about working with college students 18 and older that are struggling with painful life experiences that affect their mental and physical health. I provide a safe, accepting environment, using evidence-based modalities for change, and support my clients in the process of healing and becoming the best versions of themselves. My clients are resilient- however, having to be "strong" and in survival mode all the time is exhausting, and it's okay to let your guard down with me. I aim to support my clients in not only surviving, but thriving. My clients achieve a healthier relationship with themselves, others, and the world around them.
When your car breaks down on the side of the road you don’t hesitate to call for assistance because you don’t wish to remain “stuck,” and the same logic can be said for the pursuit of therapy. Managing stress, overcoming the inevitable challenges life throws our way and building healthy relationships are valued skills that I feel passionately about supporting others in achieving. I hope to serve as a guide in uncovering the resiliency and confidence you already possess, to begin to live your fullest life.
Has depression stopped you in your tracks? Has a sense of emptiness settled over you? Perhaps you feel like nothing in life is worth the effort anymore. Are you feeling “stuck” during a transitional time of your life—perhaps adjusting to a new career, new baby, relationship, or living situation? Have you recently given birth and feel overwhelmed by everything? Do you feel ashamed or embarrassed that you’re unable to manage the stress on your own? Fortunately, psychotherapy has the answers that you are looking for. With one-to-one sessions with a therapist like myself trained in treating depression, anxiety, maternal mental health concerns, and PTSD, you can learn skills to lessen depression, reduce anxiety, support postpartum mental health, heal from trauma, and find a positive way forward. I am here to offer you help through life's most difficult transitions. Talking to someone who understands is the first step in lifting you out of shame and into empowerment, so you can feel like yourself again.
