Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
When life becomes unmanageable due to a variety of circumstances, who or what do we tend to turn to? Anxiety, depression, and traumas mask over our true selves, shielding us from who we want to be. These masks also protect us from the fear that lies with working on these debilitating issues, more likely than not we pick up unhealthy habits and behaviors to help us cope. A lot of times we do not realize how this affects not just us, but any relationship we are in (personal, business, school, etc.) during these times we are struggling. It is important to know that we are not alone in this difficult journey. I am here for you in a compassionate and empathetic way as we work together to identify those roadblocks that are currently keeping you from ‘being’; helping you to overcome them or to better manage them the next time we face that same barrier, because we almost always do! I work with a variety of treatment modalities that are unique to each individual’s needs and that help us achieve the best results for you in your healing. Now, some things about me! I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology in 2018. Since 2013 however, my clinical background includes working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a rehabilitation setting providing individual psychotherapy with individuals diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I also have extensive experience in administering and scoring neuropsychological test batteries in various outpatient settings including a hospital-based program as well as in the setting of a neurobehavioral rehabilitation program. I do look forward to meeting with you and creating a safe space where we can begin the journey of healing. I am accepting new clients, and am currently available via telehealth Monday - Thursday, 9am to 7pm.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in cycles of intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, reassurance-seeking, overthinking, and anxiety that seems to demand certainty before they can move forward. I provide in-person therapy in Grand Haven, including traditional office sessions and walk & talk therapy, as well as virtual therapy throughout Michigan.

Taking the first step of reaching out to a therapist can feel daunting, so let's take this next step together. We all have times in our lives when things start to feel too heavy to navigate alone. I am passionate about working with folks experiencing challenges with anxiety and/or OCD. I also specialize in grief and feel honored to support clients in learning how to carry what can't be fixed. I'm a firm believer that just as we care for our physical health, our mental health deserves the same attention, understanding, and compassion. I take a human-centered approach, honoring the identities that shape who you are and the systems you navigate, creating a space for healing and meaningful change. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe environment, rooted in curiosity, for clients to feel empowered and know they are not alone. With my office based in Grand Rapids, I offer in-person and virtual sessions for people in the state of Michigan. Feel free to reach out to me by phone or email, whichever you prefer.

Welcome. My name is Julia, and I’m here to support you. As a therapist, I specialize in trauma recovery and all that comes with it - depression, anxiety, grief, anger, coping (both healthy and unhealthy), and more. I have specific experience working with people battling substance abuse, and with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I primarily use mindfulness, parts work, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in sessions with my clients. Therapy is a lot like exercise - it’s hard to get started, it hurts while you’re doing it… and you’re always glad you did it anyway. The first step is asking for help. This is hard, but you can absolutely do it. You're already here, aren't you?

My goal is to offer a safe and affirming environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered in your journey toward healing and self-growth. I support concerns like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, disability-related issues, and identity exploration. Using an integrative approach, including CBT, Solution-Focused, and Person-Centered techniques, I tailor therapy to your needs. I also recognize how culture, systemic barriers, and accessibility impact mental health. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I aim to help you build confidence, resilience, and a deeper connection to yourself. Whether navigating challenges, life transitions, or identity exploration, I provide support that respects your lived experience. Wherever you are in your journey, I am honored to walk alongside you with care and encouragement!

Hello my name is Maureen, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of psychotherapy experience, and everyone is welcome in my practice. I live in Lapeer County, Michigan and have strong ties to Detroit and surrounding area. My therapy practice is via telehealth. I’ve worked with people who have had a wide range of challenges and who needed the help of a compassionate and skilled therapist. Because of my many years of working with a very diverse population of people, I’ve been able to create a very eclectic style that I believe takes the best of each therapy model and am able to create a very tailored treatment for each person who allows me to help them on their journey. I help people to recognize and utilize their strengths and believe that people have the best answers for themselves and need to learn how to find them and use them for their continued growth. I love using interventions that combine supportive and goal directed strategies as well as focusing on the mind-body connection. My favorite form of therapy is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I’m also trained in Attachment Therapy, EMDR, CBT and many others. I’ve always invested a lot of time and energy into improving my skills for the benefit of my clients, so I frequently attend continuing education seminars and conferences. I’m an Open Path provider (for people who need to pay based on their ability to afford it). I'm also a Give an Hour provider and donate pro-bono services for our military, veterans and their families. I value the opportunity to help everyone get the therapy that they need.

Life can feel heavier than it should, especially when you're trying to navigate a season of big changes and high expectations. You might notice you're constantly overthinking, feeling drained by a relentless cycle of daily responsibilities, or running on fumes as a high achiever who never quite feels like "enough." Over time, the stress of managing deadlines, next steps, and independent life can take a toll on your sleep, your relationships, and your energy—making it hard to actually enjoy your day-to-day life. My goal is to offer a welcoming, supportive space where you can step away from the pressure and talk openly about what’s truly on your mind. Together, we’ll work to better understand what you’re experiencing, find realistic ways to manage the unique challenges of modern transitions, and help you feel more confident, grounded, and connected to the life you want to live. When you reach out, you’ll connect directly with me. There is no front desk screening, I want your first connection to be as simple, private, and stress-free as possible. The way I work is grounded in warmth, respect, and a judgment-free space where you don’t have to have your entire future figured out. Together, we’ll focus on what you want to change, whether that’s finding more calm amidst daily stress, building healthier relationships, silencing overthinking, or reclaiming your confidence.

I am a licensed professional counselor at LifeStance Health and I work fully online!
I have over 25 years of experience providing therapy with a master's degree from Michigan State University in clinical social work. I provide a compassionate, supportive, safe environment to work collaboratively with clients. A trusting therapeutic relationship is important in assisting clients to meet their goals and in some cases heal from trauma. I enjoy working with college students and university staff. I have experience in working with anxiety, depression, loss/grief issues, post-truamatic stress, relationship/communication issues, work stress/work changes, life transitions, chronic illness, ADHD, ADD, marital/divorce issues, sexual assaults/abuse and domestic violence. I also assist with the stress of the demands of being a student or those experiencing work stress. Its a privilege to work with my clients and I hope to meet with you to empower you to have the life you deserve.
I work with non-linear thinkers who are searching for a therapist with intuitive wisdom who cherishes the divergent path. I specializes in connecting with ADHDers who have always felt different even if others couldn't tell. My clients are notoriously curious and adept improvisors, who are playfully creative, but they still feel perpetually out-of-sync with the world around them. They charm others with their insight and levity, and save the biting criticisms for themselves. So they end up feeling like anxious imposters, waiting to be exposed. Acquiescing to others has helped you get by without too many catastrophes, but deep down you can't keep convincing yourself that you're okay with just getting by. There's a deeper itch that's beckoning you into an alternative way of being. Yes, still different, but personal, integrated, aligned with your soul. I approach therapy as the life-changing work that it is, and while there's a serious commitment to exploring one's psyche, it doesn't mean you or I are required to take ourselves too seriously. Excavating one's own lived experience and the difficulty of navigating a world not built for you is not for the faint of heart, yet we continue to be curious, adapt, and play. I am intentional in creating and holding space for clients to find and share a more authentic version of themselves. Clients are well-met when they bring curiosity about their distinct approach to life, courage to speak what has been left unsaid, and compassion to nurture a deeper truth about themselves.
