Let’s be honest, going to therapy can be a little intimidating. I know what you are thinking, “what would speaking to a shrink do for me? I have so much on my mind, it will take more than a few sessions to unleash everything.” Well…I got time AND passion. I believe that as human beings living in our present society, we are conditioned to put our needs aside and we frequently forget how to take care of ourselves. As your therapist, I am strongly devoted to assisting you in tackling life challenges, managing problems, and coming out stronger than ever because YOU are capable. My approach to therapy is to use a strength based perspective, CBT and create an unapologetic space for my client. I want my client to feel they don't need to sugar coat anything in sessions because I truly believe transparency will open up my client's full potential to self-discovery and personal growth. I know taking this next step is scary AND brave. Imagine yourself opening up to possibilities you only dreamt of and finally being in control over your life and happiness. Let's work together to build that dream by tackling those negative thought distortions and create new perspectives in order to create your new reality.

Jim is currently a staff therapist for Sarah Lawrence College and is offering telehealth therapeutic support through his private practice in New York State. While he has experience supporting a wide range of clients, Jim’s time at SLC has helped him hone his skill set with undergraduate and graduate students, athletes, members of the queer- and trans communities, and performing artists. Jim uses an eclectic therapeutic approach, combining psychodynamic, person-centered, REBT and IFS modalities to address the needs of his clients. His 25-year acting career (Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, new works, concerts, etc.) informs his curiosity about how we may authentically inhabit the various roles we all play in our lives.

You built a life and career by being the reliable one. The strong and independent one. The high-performer. Now you wake up tired, restless, and questioning who you are beneath the grind. I work with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Adult Children of Immigrants navigating burnout, complex trauma, perfectionism, anxious stress, and identity conflict who feel lost in this stage of life and want to reconnect with themselves. Clients often say they are overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, shutting down in relationships, or carrying stress in their body. Hi & welcome. My college years were a time of great learning and friendship, and also, of significant loss. This led to my own passion of supporting young adults facing challenges and grief during this important life stage. I have extensive experience working with grieving individuals - children, teens, college students, and adults - including after incidents of mass trauma. My practice (CT/NY) also provides support to those struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, family and relationship difficulties, academic and career challenges, self-doubt, and stressors due to caregiving. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and results-oriented and incorporates elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). I also value the role of creative expression and appreciate how art, play, and narrative therapies impact healing. I value each client as unique and resilient. I offer compassion, warmth, and humor as we collaborate to work towards building on your strengths, increasing your coping skills, and creating the changes you hope to see. We're a team and we got this!

At our mental health practice, we specialize in helping students who feel like outsiders navigate the challenges of addiction, trauma, immigration, and acculturation. If you've ever felt like you don't belong or struggle to connect, you're not alone. Many of our clients share this experience of alienation—whether as immigrants adjusting to a new culture, individuals recovering from traumatic life experiences, or students whose identity is rooted in a marginalized community. We understand the deep desire to find community and to heal from life's toughest moments. Our supportive, non-judgmental environment is here to help you reclaim your sense of self and build meaningful connections. Together, we’ll explore ways to recover, grow, and find belonging. You don’t have to face these challenges alone—healing starts here.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults who feel stuck between what anxiety is telling them to do and the life they actually want to live. It’s common to feel overwhelmed by anxiety or OCD, getting caught in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, and feeling stuck, you’re not alone. Using evidence-based treatments like ERP, PE, HRT, and Behavioral Activation, I help clients learn to respond differently to intrusive thoughts, reduce avoidance, and move toward what matters most. Together, we focus on building a life guided by values rather than fear. ERP provides structure and direction. My goal is to help you feel more confident handling whatever shows up and partner with families to create consistency and support outside of sessions. Taking the first step can be hard, but you don’t have to do it by yourself, I'd be happy to connect and see how I can support you.
