Have you ever felt that no one in this world truly cares? Have you ever felt that no one ever listens? Have you been talking about your personal issues to all your loved ones, friends, or coworkers? Well, it is time that you speak to a professional about any concerns or doubts you may be experiencing in life I have experience in the addiction field with service veterans with PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety, with a focus on person-centered care for individuals who are seeking compassionate care. I have advocated for my clients to improve their quality of life concerns through integrated services and appropriate referrals to treatment. In session, we will build a therapeutic relationship to meet your goals and needs. We will work together to meet you exactly where you are. I let my clients sit in the driver’s seat and take me on their life journeys in which we identify, explore, process and adapt to emotional and cognitive changes to daily functioning. We will create strategies that are evidenced-based practices to help you cope with stressors and life events. We may also explore traumatic experiences from past to present, and we will ensure a safe place to express those feelings and thoughts. My therapeutic approach is in acceptance and commitment therapy, and person-centered therapy with a holistic approach. I focus on the individual as a whole and get to know you as a person. I utilize mindfulness interventions and motivational interviewing skills to help you reframe your thinking and build trust in communication. I hope for my clients to understand that changes happen over time and with hard dedicated work, they will notice their own changes in their path along their journeys. Hello! I'm Kat, and I'm here to be your go-to cheerleader and confidante. Welcome to a space where you can breathe a little easier and find the support you need to navigate the twists and turns of college life. My journey into counseling? I started with a passion for music, earning a double B.A. in Music Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College. Those years taught me so much about creativity and the power of education to inspire and uplift. But my path took a turn when I felt called to explore counseling as a way to help others in a deeper capacity. I pursued an MA in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. It's there that I discovered my passion for holistic well-being and specialized in Brainspotting—an incredible modality to bust through performance/creative blocks and tackle the harder stuff like trauma. In our sessions, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can truly be yourself. I firmly believe in your ability to overcome challenges and shape the life you desire. Therapy doesn't have to be all serious and introspective. We'll sprinkle in some humor, passion, and empathy along the way. So, if you're ready to level up and tackle whatever life throws your way, I'm here for it. Shoot me a message and let's kickstart this journey together.

For over 40 years, I've worked with individuals, couples, families, & groups. From among the numerous treatment approaches in which I've trained, i custom tailor a way of working that best suits your needs. Thus, I start by listening to your concerns. Then together we can delineate goals. These can range from broad existential concerns, e.g. how you want to BE everyday, how to live "happier." . . to practical ways to improve your relationship(s), choose a career, reduce your anxiety or depression, manage your A.D.D. I work with local psychiatrists if you wish to consider, or manage, medication(s). I'm sorry but i do not accept any insurance (managed care was around when i started to practice). I'll help you find out if your insurance contract will reimburse you for an Out-of-Network (OON) Psychologist like myself. Also, since Covid, i've been working solely over Zoom. I look forward to hearing from you. Dr. Joy

I draw from CBT, DBT, and person-centered therapy to help you make sense of what you’re going through, develop effective coping skills, and move toward the life you want. Hey everyone! I'm excited to connect with you. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NY. I possess certifications in Advanced Grief Counseling, Trauma Treatment and Telemental Health. I specialize in assisting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, and grief/loss. I have experience working with BIPOC clients who struggled with maintaining a college/work-life balance while dealing with a variety of social, environmental, and race-based stressors. Stress is a common issue that I hear about in therapy, but I understand that each individual experiences it differently. Some may not even see it as a problem, viewing it instead as something they've been taught to endure due to family or cultural expectations. Stress can manifest in various ways, such as difficulty making decisions, problems concentrating, feelings of anger, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues. My goal is to create a safe and accepting space where we can explore and address the stress that weighs us down and work together to develop effective coping strategies and a wellness plan. I believe that our work together should always be centered around you. It’s all about teamwork and tapping into your strengths. Think of our journey as a partnership. I’m here to offer support and tools, but you’re the one in control, guiding your own path to personal growth. Just like how an architect helps design a building but doesn't do all the hard work themselves, I won’t solve your problems for you. Instead, I want to empower you to create your own blueprint for success. Together, we’ll build a solid foundation so you can confidently tackle whatever challenges come your way.

Are past childhood wounds affecting your relationships today? If you struggle to form or maintain emotional connections, or find yourself repeating unhealthy patterns, your inner child may still be carrying the weight of past trauma. I specialize in helping people understand how early experiences shape adult behavior, attachment styles, and difficulties in relationships. Together, we’ll uncover and heal the wounds from your past, giving a voice to the parts of you that were once silenced. It’s time to reconnect with your inner child, nurture their needs, and break free from the cycles that hold you back. My therapy style is rooted in psychodynamic principles. This means I’ll explore if you feel as though, messages you received as a child, are still causing problems in current relationships. We’ll then work together to heal these wounds while learning how to better cope with our inner child, and shake hands with them, with a touch of humor along the way. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, but I'm here to support you every step of the way. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, I'll provide guidance, validation, and comfort as you embark on your journey of healing and empowerment. Please feel free to reach out, and I guarantee a response within 24 hours.

I work hard to create a safe and inviting space for my clients to work on whichever problems they choose to bring into their sessions.
