Psychotherapy can benefit people facing a range of challenges. Currently, I see adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship or interpersonal difficulties, and sometimes with health/illness issues. I see many people experiencing distress and other symptoms associated with life transitions such as adolescence, marriage, new parenthood or challenges in family planning, divorce, professional or personal role redefinition, retirement, and aging. I provide counseling to individuals and couples struggling with the shifting roles and demands of these complicated times. Therapy is a collaboration. I bring a warm, curious, nonjudgmental nature, an appreciation for individual differences, spontaneity and value of humor. Together, we explore patterns, thoughts, and feelings from the past and present. Clients begin therapy not only with identified concerns but also with resources that can be harnessed for lasting change. I use an active, contemporary approach to psychotherapy. I integrate psychodynamic, relational and cognitive-behavioral models and, where appropriate, health psychology, tailoring my work to each individual and their circumstances. My goal is to help people find relief from their suffering and to discover new ways of experiencing life to its fullest.
I believe therapy means making you feel deeply known and accepted, and by creating a warm and secure bond opens the space for long-lasting, personal growth. I appreciate how some old habits you have picked up at an earlier point may no longer serve you now. The process of understanding yourself with compassion and learning new ways of being in the world isn't always easy, but I'll be with you every step of the way. Together we can find and solve the "stuck points" holding you back from living a full and meaningful life. I work with individual adults focusing on mood and personality issues. As your therapist, my goal is to help you live up to the best version of yourself. My approach centers on harnessing your unique strengths in building the bridge between where you are and where you want to be. I take an integrative approach that reflects my dual training in transference-based theory such as Schema and evidence-based theory such as CBT. Thus, my treatment balances the exploration of experiential life with actionable change.
Let me tell you a little bit more about me. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have always loved helping others. My passion for working with people in their 20s and 30s stems from years of working with children and adolescents in schools. I’ve helped students find their own path into adulthood and see my current work as a continuation of offering that guidance and support. Previous clients describe me as very kind, empathetic, non-judgmental, and caring. Counseling is in my blood, it's all I have ever done and I feel as passionate about it today as I did when I started.

My experience as a therapist includes working at the NYU Counseling Services for many years. I have a deep understanding of the challenges both undergraduate and graduate students face with the changes, separations and transitions involved in becoming independent adults. It is a time filled with excitement as well as stress and worries about the future. The internal and external pressures, expectations from family and demands of the academic world can feel overwhelming at times. For graduate and doctoral students, there are the stressors of completing programs, dissertations and the challenges of seeking employment. Students may also be struggling with feeling alone, isolated, anxious, depressed, dealing with body image self-esteem and sexuality issues as well as social pressures around alcohol and other substances. Therapy can help in navigating these challenges, offer insight and reduce stress. I am a compassionate, extensively trained and interactive therapist. Together, we can work to develop strategies, address negative patterns of thought and behaviors, manage stress and help you deal with relationships more effectively. I am also trained and certified in clinical hypnosis which can be very useful in managing the physical and psychological symptoms of stress and anxiety including phobias, GI issues such as IBS as well as reducing symptoms of depression while increasing self-confidence and success.

Our job as your therapist is to act as a mirror so that you can truly see yourself for the first time. We will be a sounding board for you to start the conversations that you need to have with yourself and potentially with others. We provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space where you can feel free to express yourself and be as open as you feel comfortable. We specialize in working with women, especially women of color, who need help learning to cope with stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms. We have vast experience working with clients who have survived trauma during various stages of life. We can all use help from others, especially when we're going through a particularly tough time. Even at a time where you may feel like you don't know what on earth is going on and everything is upside down, you know that something has to change. Let's make some changes together!
I am a board-certified, Cornell and Mount Sinai-trained adult and child psychiatrist in New York and California. My approach to treatment is holistic and firmly rooted in the science of the brain, combining psychotherapy (for individuals, families, and couples) with nutrition, lifestyle modification, as well as state-of-the-art medication treatment, when helpful. I view each person as a complex individual with a unique story to tell, so I take time getting to know my clients and work collaboratively to develop a targeted plan to achieve their treatment goals. I have expertise in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, tic, ADHD, ODD, personality disorders, and eating disorders in children, teens, adults, and in pregnant and breastfeeding women. I also work with adults transitioning into parenthood, and with infants and toddlers. I am available for consultations and second opinions. I do not accept insurance (payment is out of pocket), but I do provide invoices for out-of-network claims. I do not take medicaid or medicare at this time.

I want to help you improve your life, whatever that might look like for you. My name is Eleanor, and I am a master’s student in the Mental Health Counseling program at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University. I also have a BA in Classical Studies and a minor in Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. In session, we will explore your present experiences, reflect on your past, and keep an eye on building the future you desire. Together, we can examine how trauma and childhood experiences influence your behaviors today. If applicable, we will also explore your relationships and attachment style. Finally, we will map out the many parts that make up the whole you. My goal? To help you gain insight into yourself, truly feel and regulate your emotions, and overall enhance the quality of your life. The approach to your therapy will be individualized and will depend on your specific goals – you decide what you want to put in your therapeutic toolbox. My therapeutic style is primarily rooted in the psychodynamic and IFS (internal family systems) modalities, though I also utilize aspects of the CBT, ACT, ERP, DBT, and Gestalt theories. We will work together to explore which approach feels best for you! My overarching career goal is to provide profound solace for college-age students and young adults. My focuses within therapeutic work are: anxiety, depression, OCD, relationships and dating, families, attachment, sexual exploration, substance use, and personality disorders. Ultimately, I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported in your journey of self-discovery and growth. Eleanor Wynn is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health.
