Clinical Social Work/Therapist
South Salem, NY

Natalia is the Associate Director of the Counseling Service at Vassar College, where she counsels students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition, at Vassar, she trains the next generation of psychotherapists as a senior supervisor to MSW students and Post-Doctoral Candidates. Natalia was born and raised in South America, and from a young age, she was interested in how culture, family, and the environment shape who we are and who we want to become. Her quest to understand cultures, traditions, and systems led her to learn languages, live, study, and grow on three continents. Thus, Natalia approaches her psychotherapeutic from a multicultural lens, helping you make sense of what brought you to this moment as a base to understand where you want to go and support you as you get there. Natalia trained as a psychotherapist in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and received her Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania where she found her passion for working with college students as a trainee at the Counseling and Psychological Services of UPENN. Natalia received the 2015 Clinical Excellence Award from the Pennsylvania Society for Clinical Social Work and is an American Psychological Association Division 39 Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology Multicultural Concerns Scholar. Licensed Dance/Movement Therapist
Red Hook, NY

When emotions stir within, causing anxiety, depression, or distress in relationships, life can feel overwhelming. I view these shifts as gifts, like an indicator light your higher Self is yearning for a personal growth spurt. These feelings can be an opportunity to free yourself from the experiences that hold you back from living your best life. My ideal client is ready to explore their internal world to make the changes needed to create a positive transformation. I am a body-based trauma-informed therapist with a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy. I use the creative process and visualization as a tool for exploration. The imagination can bypass the parts of the brain that keep us stuck in unwanted behaviors and can more easily access the parts that hold the answers. By engaging the mind and body with resources that calm the central nervous system, we have greater access to the pain filled memories impeding us from reaching our full potential and allow insight to surface. I integrate CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model), a neurobiological trauma model to help release traumatic events that may be locked into the body by using resources that can be used between sessions. After 20 years of working as a therapist, I took a deep dive into my own therapeutic process and wrote a book about the experience - a memoir to be published soon. My goal is to be your guide, a doula of sorts, to help birth the person you have always wanted to become. Call or email to see if we are a match for your personal growth journey. My availability fluctuates so please feel free to check in with me if available times do not meet your needs.

Who am I? What is important to me? What do I believe in? What do I want out of life? I know firsthand what it is like to face these questions, especially when rebuilding after disappointment, trauma, and loss. In my own experience and in my experience working with clients, I have found that the most difficult times of our lives can be the catalyst to our greatest growth, and eventually, a sense of peace we had not thought possible. My primary areas of focus are working with clients struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, and spiritual concerns. I integrate acceptance and mindfulness-based practices with evidence-based approaches to tailor a therapy experience that best fits your needs and goals. I believe those of us who struggle the most have the greatest resources for making real change, for building rich, full, and meaningful lives. Let’s work together to navigate life's difficulties, and in the face of challenges, be present, open up, and do what matters.

Pound Ridge, NY

Historically, I have worked with children and adults processing trauma, and supported those diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. However, in recent years I have begun to narrow my focus on supporting University students. At this time in history I feel supporting the mental health of this group is of the utmost importance as they face existential and emotional challenges unique to the generations that have come before. Using a combination of creative interventions and talk therapy techniques, I offer a unique and collaborative therapeutic experience to support individuals through the transitional space of University life and provide a safe and affirming space for them to reflect on who they are and who they want to be in this world.

Ecdysis (pronounced Ek-Duh-Sus), by definition, is the process that snakes and reptiles undergo when shedding their skin, and it is a metaphor for how I view the therapeutic process. I started Ecdysis Psychology with the goal of helping people navigate difficult or uncomfortable changes in order to discover the best versions of themselves. In my 15+ years of experience treating adults and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings, I have encountered individuals experiencing symptoms of depression, mania, anxiety, psychosis, and personality disorders as well as those struggling with addiction and sexual concerns, and I learned that what matters most in treatment is motivation. Anyone with a willingness to change can do so, regardless of the traumas or negative experiences of your past. Therapy is a tool to help guide you through difficult life situations, and my practice focuses on helping clients cope with stressful circumstances, such as grief, traumatic events, relationship difficulties, divorce, family conflict, fertility struggles, depression, low self-esteem, problems with assertive communication, or anxiety. Each person's treatment course is custom to their needs and is based upon the theoretical underpinnings of cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your personal growth journey.
