Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I'm a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of New York, and have over 20 years of experience in successfully helping college students who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief & loss, and poor self-esteem. I enjoy working with people from a variety of different backgrounds, identities, and life circumstances. I take the privilege of working with patients very seriously and am committed to providing a consistent, supportive, and productive therapy experience to each of them, in every session. I have specific training in several treatment approaches (Interpersonal therapy, CBT, & contemporary psychodynamic therapy among them), and tailor the work to the particular needs of each patient. Regardless of the approach, however, my goal is always to work together to find practical strategies and solutions we can use to create real, meaningful change. While my experience and training are certainly important to how I approach this work, I believe my genuine personal warmth and natural sense of humor are also central to creating therapy relationships that feel safe and transformative. If you'd like to discuss the possibility of our working together, I'd be happy to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
I help clients who are trying to manage stress, anxiety, self-esteem or relationship issues and life transitions. Often clients are navigating a change in their lives, such as their educational path, career, or relationships. I support clients through these transitions and provide a safe, therapeutic environment where they can explore their individuality and strengths. Clients are also supported through the process of examining maladaptive patterns of thought and/or behavior with the use of Psychodynamic, Relational and CBT frameworks. These approaches, combined with a strong therapeutic relationship, help to foster an increased awareness and greater sense of empowerment, which can increase overall quality of life.

You deserve to re-connect with yourself and others. I would be honored to partner with you and support your nervous system in accessing more ease, empowerment, and joy. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of stress or trauma, feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, or experiencing pain and tension in your body. Or you may be functioning well on the outside, but feeling disconnected from purpose, meaning, or belonging. Whatever brings you here, I'm so glad you've taken this step. I specialize in trauma-informed therapy with a strong foundation in social justice, offering a compassionate space for healing and reconnection. My approach is collaborative and respectful of your inner strengths. Together, we’ll revisit past wounds when necessary, but always with intention and safety; not just to talk, but to heal. I integrate EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, parts work, mindfulness tools, and somatic approaches to support lasting resilience and emotional clarity. My work is based on the belief that caring for our mental health is an essential part of our overall wellbeing. I collaborate with my clients to help them understand their strengths and gain insight into themselves, experiment with new ways of interacting with others, and learn new skills to work towards cultivating fulfilling lives. As part of this process I strive to create a warm, empathic environment, and I prioritize developing therapeutic relationships with clients based on authenticity and trust. I draw from client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy techniques in my work. As a generalist, I am experienced in helping individuals with a broad range of concerns including anxiety/stress, mood difficulties, identity, career and school concerns, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. I take a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), goals-focused approach. I am licensed in Massachusetts and New York and I can see students in either state--in fact, I work with a number of students who go to school in MA but live in NY when they are not on campus and vice versa. I'd be happy to set up a time to talk so you can ask any questions that you have to see if it would be a good fit for you.
I work collaboratively with young adults, individuals and couples to design personalized pathways for clarity, healing and growth. I offer telehealth appointments for folks in New York and California, and in-person sessions for those in the Hudson Valley. Drawing from an extensive background in psychotherapy, somatic therapy, relational gestalt, creative exploration and mind-body interventions, I tailor sessions to meet each client where they are.

My job is to help you feel less distress so that you can do the things you want and need to do. My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.
