Therapists for college students near New York, NY
My name is Eve Buck (she/her/hers), and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor. I work with individuals and couples living in New York and Pennsylvania at my virtual practice. I completed my master’s degree in mental health counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. My previous training includes working with undergraduate and graduate students at the Fordham University counseling center, as well as community practices where I have worked with culturally diverse clients from all walks of life. I particularly enjoy working with young adults and senior adults and have specialized training in therapy for people who identify as Latinx. It is through the experiences and lessons I have learned along my work and personal journeys that I hope to support your path toward overcoming your personal struggles and finding greater fulfillment. I pride myself on utilizing a multicultural approach to therapy while bringing in teachings and principles of multiple disciplines, drawing mainly from psychodynamic therapy among other evidence-based practices. It is this multidisciplinary approach that I believe best serves clients, allowing space for present-minded problem solving as well as exploration into a client’s past, relationships, and emotional experience. Our work together can be tailored based on your life story and experiences and what you hope to gain from therapy. Everyone’s therapy journey is different. Whether it’s working through trauma or beginning a path towards better self-understanding, I strive to provide an open, non-judgmental, and productive space where people can find relief from distressing symptoms as well as develop a stronger sense of self through insight and reflection. Just like each person is unique, each treatment is different and adapted to who you are and what you need. I recognize the wide breadth of human experience and I bring this knowledge with me to best meet your needs. Life can be difficult and confusing, but as your therapist I will be there to empathize with and support you through it.

Whether you are living in physical pain or emotional pain, we will work together to help you sleep better, decrease pain, improve relationships, get "unstuck" and feel happier. One of our greatest goals as clinicians is treating you with the support and care you deserve. We not only want to help you feel better, we want to help you live better and move out of negative patterns of behavior that do not serve you. We work from an integrative perspective, meaning that we have been trained in a wide variety of psychological techniques and will combine them to help you achieve your goals. We will teach you to use the tools that help you most, so that you can continue to work with these techniques on your own, once you have completed therapy. Parenting is one of the most meaningful things a person can do, and one of the most overwhelming. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral concerns, and mood disorders. As a mother of five, I know firsthand that raising children can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly hard. That lived experience shapes how I show up for the families I work with. You won't be handed a clinical framework; you'll be met with genuine empathy from someone who understands what it feels like to navigate difficult moments. I care deeply about the best interest of each child while also recognizing the important role parents play, which is why we work together on improving emotional well-being, building confidence, and empowering young people to thrive. I believe in the resilience of children and in the power of the parent-child relationship, and am here to help you strengthen both. I look forward to walking alongside you with empathy, respect, and understanding as your steady and supportive partner through even the most difficult moments. Every child deserves to feel understood, valued, and supported. That belief is at the heart of everything I do, and it's what drives me to show up fully for every patient and family I work with. Lasting change, in my experience, happens when families are treated as partners in care, which is why my approach is collaborative and family-centered by design. I use evidence-based medication management alongside supportive therapeutic techniques to help children and adolescents improve emotional regulation, reduce symptoms, and build resilience and confidence over time. Each patient is different, and I tailor my approach to fit the individual's needs, circumstances, and goals. Whether we're addressing anxiety, ADHD, mood instability, or behavioral concerns, the environment you'll find here is safe, nonjudgmental, and built on trust. My path to psychiatric mental health grew out of years of caring for patients and families as a registered nurse specializing in oncology medicine. In this work, I witnessed how deeply mental health impacts not only the individual but the entire family system. Becoming a mother of five made my calling even more personal. Watching my own children develop — navigating communication, resilience, and big emotions — gave me a new lens for understanding what families truly need. It reinforced my commitment to care that is grounded, evidence-based, and compassionate, with a strong focus on understanding the child’s needs and the parent’s experience. That combination of clinical foundation and lived family experience is what I bring into every session. You'll find someone who has both studied this work and lived it. Outside of my clinical work, I value spending time with my family and enjoying life outdoors. I love traveling with my family in our RV, camping, hiking, walking, and if I can ever find the time, riding horses. These experiences keep me grounded and reflect my belief in balance, connection, and the importance of mental wellness and everyday life.

My approach is warm and friendly, and my communication style is direct but with compassion. I also think humor can be very healing. I strive to guide client’s toward solutions and to help them meet their goals. My priority with clients is to create a safe space by helping them feel heard and understood without judgment. If you're anxious, depressed or overwhelmed and living with painful emotions, therapy can help. Let me help you move to a place of understanding so you feel empowered to make new and different choices to improve your life and your relationships. There is hope, therapy works, and change is possible.
Life transitions can bring a mix of emotions - excitement, confusion, stress, and more. Between classes, relationships, identity shifts, and figuring out your future, it's a lot to take on. It is totally normal to experience all of the emotions at once, which can be difficult to understand and navigate. Opening up about what you are going through isn't always easy, but you don't have to do it alone. Whether you're looking for tools to manage stress or anxiety, make sense of tough emotions, or understand how your past is showing up in the present, therapy can help. Our work together will focus on what matters most to you. This is your space to be supported and heard.
