I offer a supportive, collaborative space where you can explore your story, feel understood, and find clarity. Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, stress, unresolved trauma, or lingering guilt around setting boundaries—that’s where I come in. I strive to provide an environment of safety, acceptance, and empowerment. My approach is described as easy-going, direct and nonjudgmental. I respect my clients’ needs and welcome the opportunity to work with people of diverse backgrounds, identities, and relationships. My goal is to help you find relief through expanded self-awareness, healing of old wounds, increased connectedness, development of practical tools, and shifting out of old/unhelpful patterns. People often come into therapy with coping mechanisms that no longer serve them. I work to find balance by providing support as well as challenging you, to encourage growth while also promoting compassion for who and where you are now. I really value being a safe person for my clients in a world that can feel unsafe. I have expertise and a passion for trauma recovery, identity exploration (including gender & sexual identity), navigating systems of oppression, attachment, and relational concerns. I’ve specialized in EMDR for 11 years, and utilize mindfulness, CBT, polyvagal theory, ego state, and DBT- with my approach being tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.
A therapist that’s warm, direct, and deeply curious. Maybe you grew up in an environment where you had to stay on guard. Maybe you've experienced abuse, violence, betrayal, loss, or events that changed the way you see yourself, other people, and the world around you. Over time, those experiences affect us and change us in ways that last longer than the experience itself. You might find yourself stuck in patterns that once helped you survive but now get in the way of the life you want. You may struggle with anxiety, depression, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or a constant sense that you're carrying more than everyone else seems to be. The good news is that these patterns make sense. They developed for a reason. The question isn't "What's wrong with me? " The question is "What happened to me — and what do I want to do with that story now?" Navigating that answer is the work we do together.
I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive integration of attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship. I will work to build a supportive, trusting, and safe relationship with you so you can bravely identify and confront the challenges you're facing. Counseling can seem like a daunting task to take on, but it also be incredibly rewarding and life-changing. If this sounds like a journey you would like to begin, then please contact me!
I have had multiple careers, including classroom teaching, have been in practice 27 years. I work with adults and with couples. I raised two sons who are now middle-aged adults. I relate to college students very well.
I enjoy working with motivated individuals and people in all relationship configurations who are seeking change. My style is approachable, warm, and collaborative, with a dash of humor when appropriate. I will be learning just as much from you as you are from me since you are the expert in your own life, even in times when it doesn't feel like it. From my former work as an intake coordinator, I know how hard it can feel to reach out for therapy, and I would be happy to see if I can help you meet your goals with a brief initial phone call.
I am a bilingual therapist that speaks English and Spanish who has experience working with students of diverse backgrounds. You might be a new student or a student that is about to graduate and be the professional you always dreamed of. You might be asking yourself, now what? I will support you no matter where you are in your journey. I have experience supporting and helping first generation students, immigrant students who struggle with adjustment, transitions, depression, anxiety, and history of trauma. For some therapy is scary, and for others it is exciting and wonderful. No matter where you are in your life adventure I am here to support you and create more self awareness where you can be your authentic self.
Meaningful change happens when we are truly seen and understood. My approach is flexible, non-pathologizing, and interactive. I work from a humanistic, relational perspective, and I aim to create a safe, welcoming space where you are genuinely cared for and respected. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship, rooted in empathic understanding and curiosity. I integrate IFS, EMDR, Mindfulness, Somatic Psychology, Psychodynamic therapy, and CBT, tailoring the approach to what feels most supportive for you. I trust your inner wisdom, and my role is to help you reconnect with it as a collaborative partner in your process - compassionately, transparently, and without judgment.
I believe that each person is resilient and has the ability to heal, change, and overcome various barriers. My goal in therapy is to offer effective tools to allow healthy coping and emotional growth while increasing self-esteem and independence. I take a holistic approach while also implementing evidence-based somatic tools healing. In treating PTSD, I focus on creating a supportive and empathetic environment where individuals feel safe to explore their experiences. I provide evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychoeducation, somatic and nervous system regulation.
My clients are exhausted and overwhelmed like you. They are tired of doing their best to keep all these balls (school, work, parenting, relationships, self-care, health and wellbeing, sleep + more) up in the air (even though admittedly they are pretty darn good at it). But when they inevitably drop a few because something else pops up or they get tired, life feels messy and they are quick to place judgements on themselves. My clients are expert problem solvers and doers, who in the face of stress, just keep going. Some are the type of person who the people in their life lean on for support. Some have tried a number of ways to fix or problem solve their way our of their emotions or exhaustion. They find their coping to work for a little bit but aren't moving them towards the life they imagined for themselves. Some realize they aren't sure they can keep up with all of what needs to be done to feel "okay". When some of my clients do take time for themselves or the rest they need, their mind struggles with feeling guilty, worrying about what they "should" be doing for work/school/person (fill in the blank with any responsibility). Like my clients, you deserve to find ease and connection in your body without a to-do list flowing through your head or scanning your body for what’s wrong now. Not being defined or consumed by your productivity is not out of your reach. I'd love to help you get there. Contact me today for a free consultation.
My clients seek me out for a variety of reasons, including trauma, depression, anxiety, and stress disorders; adjustment difficulties; academic difficulties; and relationship and family-of-origin concerns. Sometimes, they just need someone to help them through a difficult time in their life or to help them understand why they are the way they are. If you’re wondering whether I might be a good fit for you, feel free to have a look around my website or contact me to discuss next steps.

Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
Prior to establishing a private practice, I worked within a university counseling center setting and I have several years of experience working with college students. I have supported students struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship concerns, depression, trauma, grief/loss, adjustment, disordered eating, racism/discrimination and more. It’s important to me that I understand my clients experiences and work collaboratively with them to support their goals. My approach is strength-based, trauma-informed, and rooted within a multicultural/feminist framework that attends to cultural identity and socio-cultural context, reinforces resilience, and focuses on empowerment.
The foundation of counseling is a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. My first goal is to create a safe and accepting relational space where my clients can be their true selves and explore their emotions and experiences. I tailor treatment to the needs of each client, drawing on several different approaches, including AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy). Depending on the goals of my clients, I help them process past trauma, work through difficult emotions, address anxiety, and arrive at what attitude they want to adopt towards their struggles. AEDP is my primary approach to counseling, and I receive ongoing training in it. It is particularly well suited to processing past trauma. It is attachment based, meaning we look at the impact of past childhood relationships. I am also helping my clients raise their awareness of their bodies and increase their ability to both access and regulate emotions. I earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University in February of 2024. I have been working at Empowering Choices Counseling and Consultation as a counseling associate since the summer of 2024. My previous professional experience includes working as a treatment aide with youth and men at a residential addiction treatment program and a nine-month counseling internship I did at Empowering Choices as part of my master’s program. I work with adults of all ages, specializing in helping people work through trauma, depression, and anxiety. Over time, the counseling journey can help you process difficult emotions, heal from trauma, find inner strength, and gain clarity on life. Like other vehicles of personal growth, counseling involves challenging yourself in new ways, but an empathetic, non-judgmental, and encouraging guide can provide the support and safety needed to navigate the challenges.
Fundamentally, I believe we as humans all strive to do the best we can. We all possess the desire to thrive. Our individual internal strengths contribute to our natural resiliency, helping us navigate through life’s challenges. At times, an individual’s journey endures obstacles that are not easily tackled alone. Being human and juggling life’s difficulties can be challenging. Needing guidance to learn new skills and support to foster your strengths is okay. I enjoy supporting and guiding children, teens and families in exploring their needs and identifying strategies to help improve their overall well-being. I will come alongside you, working to grow strength and resiliency, one step at a time.
