Therapists for college students near Portland State University
You look like you have it together but inside you are exhausted, overwhelmed, or just quietly struggling in ways nobody around you seems to notice. The students I work with have often been carrying something heavy for a long time: anxiety that won't quit, a past they can't stop thinking about, or a pattern of burning out no matter how hard they try to keep up. Some are high achievers who look completely fine on the outside while feeling overwhelmed or empty on the inside. Others are navigating something that happened earlier in life that is finally surfacing now that they have space to breathe. Many of my clients have tried talking about their problems before and felt like it helped in the moment but didn't really change anything. That's because some of what we carry doesn't live in our thoughts. It lives in the nervous system, in the body, in patterns wired into the brain long before we had words for them. I use approaches, such as EMDR and IFS, that work directly with the brain and body, not just the thinking mind, which is why clients often notice real shifts after feeling stuck for years. You don't need to have it figured out before we talk. You just need to be curious about why you keep feeling the way you do, and open to the idea that something can actually shift. If you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, depression, difficult relationships, or a general sense that something is off and you can't quite name it, you are probably in the right place.

Find Your Balance. Discover Your Voice. Be a work in progress. College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. Whether you’re navigating new independence, academic pressure, relationship changes, or figuring out who you want to be in the world, therapy can give you the tools and space to grow. I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience helping people make sense of their inner world. My approach blends logic and curiosity (thanks to my background in Philosophy) with a deep respect for how our emotions, body, and even the unconscious shape our daily lives. You might find us exploring your thoughts through Socratic dialogue, diving into dreamwork, connecting with symbols and stories like The Hero’s Journey, or looking at how your brain makes decisions from a neuro-economics perspective. If you’re ready to explore not just *what* you’re feeling, but *why*, and learn how to bring your hidden patterns into the light, I’ll walk alongside you—helping you meet yourself with more clarity, compassion, and confidence.
Do you struggle to say "no" to people? Do you feel guilty when you do? Do you feel pressure to make others happy while never getting what you need? Do you stay in bad relationships for too long? Do you feel stuck relationally, emotionally, or in your career path? There are explanations for this behavior and ways to change it. I love helping people learn how to have healthy boundaries with others, their work, or some other habit they are concerned about. If you want to understand yourself better and possibly learn to make healthier choices based on your values, I would love to work with you. Therapy is sometimes the first positive step that represents caring for yourself. It is an acknowledgement that you are worth the effort. I am an ally regardless of race, culture, physical ability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, immigration status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or spiritual beliefs. Many people experience symptoms of anxiety and depression because they are currently OR have been in relation (family, friend, partner, co-worker, etc) to another person who has OR has had a substance or other behavioral problem. The negative effects can be long-lasting, confusing, and persist without treatment. If this is a familiar for you, call me.
Are you in the midst of a major life transition, like a breakup or family crisis, and feel confused about how to move forward? Not only do I have book knowledge about these issues, I have lived many of them, just like you. I believe that we all need a little coaching and encouragement at times. I have a direct, compassionate and solution focused style and have 30 years experience in the field. I work with individuals and couples and specialize in relationship issues. I love working with people in life transition. I am a certified Relational Life Therapist, with additional training using Gottman, the Couples Institute and also Emotion Focused Therapy materials. I am here to remind you that you are already whole. My intention is to walk with you on your healing path and co-create a sacred space where we can tend to your body, mind, and spirit. My approach is heart-centered, non-pathologizing, and grounded in a humanistic lens. I value what evidence-based practices offer us, and hold reverence for the wisdom traditions, somatic knowing, and transpersonal experiences that live outside those frameworks. I also recognize that Western psychology is rooted in colonialism, and I am committed to an approach that honors lineages of healing that the dominant system has excluded. I weave in mindfulness, somatics, parts work, expressive arts, and nature therapy. I am certified in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR, and have extensive experience supporting those healing from religious and spiritual trauma. I especially enjoy working with the queer community and Highly Sensitive People (HSP), both of which are part of the path I walk. As a solo practice, I do not have a team to provide 24/7 crisis support. Because of this, my practice is a good fit for those who feel steady enough to manage their safety between our weekly sessions. I offer in-person sessions in South Eugene Mon/Tues/Wed and online sessions Thursdays. When you reach out, please let me know your insurance(s) and schedule preferences.
