Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Thank you for taking the essential step of seeking help. My passion for mental health and wellness consists of the demystifying stigma associated with mental health, symptom management, healthy living, healing, and resiliency. I believe in the whole person’s treatment, so I enjoy collaborating with additional professionals to provide the most optimal treatment and recovery for individuals receiving support from me. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained in diverse treatment modalities, including psychotherapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy - suicide prevention. I use several skills and client collaboration to tailor treatment. I have used my skills to provide treatment for specialty populations, including LGBTQ, Trauma, Anxiety, BIPOC, Co-Occurring, and Problem Sexual Behavior. I currently offer telehealth, individual, couples, and family therapy. As well as clinical supervision, training, and consultations for professionals and organizations.
We support young adults through life transitions, stress management, and learning new skills to cope with anxiety and depression. We also offer trauma focused therapy and crisis support.

At Heartfelt Healing, I tend to connect most with students who are thoughtful, caring, and often hard on themselves. You might be the one others rely on, the responsible friend, the high achiever, the one who “has it together,” while quietly feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure inside. Many of the students I work with are navigating big life shifts such as starting college, adjusting to independence, healing from a breakup, questioning relationships, or trying to find their footing in who they are becoming. Some are working through body image struggles, disordered eating patterns, family stress, or the pressure to meet expectations. Others simply feel stuck, disconnected, or exhausted from constantly overthinking. If you’re considering therapy but don’t have clear goals or the “right words” yet, that’s completely okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes the first step is simply knowing something doesn’t feel quite right and being open to exploring it in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. We can figure the rest out together.

Hi, I am a Licensed Social Worker. I offer years of experience working with people 16-90 years of age. I strive to learn and grow in order to be the most help for the people who come to me for services. My desire to gain knowledge has led me to studying narrative therapy, which pulls from people's desired way of being in the world in order to create movement. I have also studied problems around alcohol, drugs and sexuality. This interest has led me to be certified as a sex therapist as well as certified addiction specialist. I have offered sex therapy for the past seven years, and substance use therapy for over twenty years.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist (in the states of Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio) who has been practicing for over 10 years. I have years of experience working with college students as I am a former College Counseling Center Director and worked in counseling centers as well as have seen college students in my private practice. I have years of experience providing both clinically and culturally competent therapy (meaning I collaborate with students to address topics they want to in therapy using tools/strategies that have been proven helpful and I take into consideration a student's various social identities and how that may impact how they experience the world). I find that I work well with students who are working through life transitions, adjustments, relationship stressors, experiencing anxiety(including those who experience social anxiety) depression, a desire to increase their self-esteem, racial trauma, or are in need increasing their overall coping skills.

I work from a very relational and warm approach, utilizing a variety of methods to help my clients meet the goals they set. I meet with clients weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly (if appropriate). If in the Bloomington area, I offer walk talk in addition to in office and telehealth.

Hi there! I am a clinician at Grounded in Growth, a Grand Rapids-based practice specializing in trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness. I work with young-adult and adult individual clients on issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, self-esteem, stress, and more. I help clients uncover deeply rooted beliefs that prohibit them from living how they desire. My style of therapy is compassionate, accepting, and mindful. My clients and I work together to enhance awareness and explore the interconnectedness between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and encourage exploration and understanding from a multicultural lens. My mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and brave space for you to grow into the truest version of yourself. This can be your time to truly shift into the person you've always known you could be, overcome what's in your way, and truly thrive in your life. It would be my honor to walk with you on your journey to a fulfilling, empowered life.
Let’s be honest. Life gets real sometimes. Things happen and we can wind up feeling stuck, lost, or hopeless. To top it all off, we often feel pressured to put on a brave face and weather the storm. It’s for these reasons that I founded Sunshine Counseling. You deserve a space where you can be yourself, where you don’t have to hide, and where you can safely process life. Truth be told, I named my therapy practice after a mug my friend gave me which sarcastically declares, "I am a ray of freaking sunshine!" This cheeky little mug actually encapsulates my world view. It is not all sunshine and rainbows. And that's ok. I tailor my approach to individuals, their needs, and their state of change. I believe that therapy is all about relationships and I want to aid others in having a healthy relationship with themselves that can then translate to having one with the people they choose to hold in their lives. Reaching out for support is a big step. Snaps for making it to this point. When you are ready, let's connect to schedule a free consultation. If I’m not the right fit for you or do not have the particular training or expertise to assist you, I will provide you with alternative referrals.
Welcome to New Beginnings Therapy and Consulting Services, PLLC. My ideal client is someone Who is committed to self-improvement and one who is invested in themselves. Post her doctorate, she obtained her Sex Therapy and Sexual Health Educator and Sports Performance certificates from the University of Michigan. Dr. Del Rio's educational path has provided a unique recipe of both micro and macro perspectives and has informed her clinical interpretations. Her psychology degree provided an emphasis on personality and human development, social work solidified her advocacy and social justice stance, marriage and family therapy strengthened her understanding of the systems and patterns within couple and family units, and her sex therapy and sexual health educator program expanded her understanding of orientation, intimacy, and human sexuality. Dr. Del Rio has worked in the mental health field for 30 years, across a variety of settings, including inpatient care, community mental health, assessment and crisis intervention, outpatient clinics, and private practice. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, trauma, and relationships. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Sex Therapy and Sexual Health, and Crisis Incident Stress Management. Dr. Del Rio has a broad range of clinical experiences working primarily with adults in the following areas: anxiety disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, OCD, anger and stress management, relationships, divorce, sexual health, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, and sports performance. She also serves in the role of clinical supervisor to help meet the educational needs of graduate students from MSU and the University of Michigan. Dr. Del Rio's approach to treatment involves a biopsychosocial and person-centered perspective. She works collaboratively with her clients, examining the person and their environment. Dawn will stay the course with her clients while simultaneously recognizing their need to be accountable, engaged, and present during the therapeutic process. She adopts a nonjudgmental stance while concurrently addressing life-interfering behaviors and the need for healthy change. She actively seeks to acknowledge her clients' strengths, explore solutions, identify constructive areas of control, and teach skills to improve her clients' functioning and quality of life.
College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many of the students I work with are trying to figure out their career path while also managing stress, anxiety, or feeling down. You might be questioning your major, worrying about the future, struggling with social anxiety, or feeling pressure to keep everything together while balancing school and life. I work best with college students who want a supportive place to talk through what they’re experiencing and learn practical ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and uncertainty about their next steps. Together, we focus on helping you feel more confident in your choices, manage difficult emotions, and build skills that make college—and life beyond it—feel more manageable.
