Life as a student can be stressful, especially when you find yourself impacted by academic or administration complications, or struggles outside of school. As a therapist, I take a holistic approach in order to recognize all the complexities of who you are and your unique situation, and strive to provide a space where you feel supported and understood. Many of my clients identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ (and found me because they wanted a therapist who shares their identity), although I have worked with students from all walks of life. I have a Masters of Social Work from CUNY Hunter and seven years of clinical experience with techniques such as psychodynamics, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT. These have helped me with students struggling with a variety of concerns - depression, self-esteem, family or relationship problems, and more. Let's talk together about what's been on your mind and explore how to support you on your journey. I look forward to hearing from you!

I specialize in supporting college students as they navigate academic pressure, identity exploration, relationships, and life transitions. College can be an exciting but overwhelming time, and therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and build skills that support both mental health and personal growth. I work best with undergraduate and graduate students who are motivated to understand themselves better, develop coping skills, and make meaningful changes during their college journey.
"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn how to surf" is a Jon Kabat-Zinn quote relevant to these challenging times. I'm a seasoned mental health counselor and school psychologist with experience supporting clients with life challenges. Our work together will be client centered, strength based and solution focused. Thank you for reviewing my profile and see if we could be a good fit! My experience includes working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship issues. Additionally, I work with many clients dealing with career or school related stress. Prior to my work as a Mental Health Counselor, I worked in the corporate world of fashion, which gave me a deep understanding of how a fast-paced and demanding work environment can affect one’s well-being. I believe the most important factor is the relationship between myself and my clients. A genuine, trusting relationship is so critical for this work. My initial training was at Northwestern University, and was centered in a psychodynamic approach; however, I have additional training in, Mindfulness, EMDR, CBT, and IFS approaches. This allows me to pull from multiple techniques to do what is best for each client and their goals. I work collaboratively with individuals. I want to hear your input as we devise a plan on how to reach your goals. You can expect me to check in often on how you feel therapy is going, and use feedback to help modify our approach as needed. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if we could be a good fit!
I practice holistically integrating an evaluation of overall health and lifestyle into my recommendations for possible medication options. You can learn more about me and my approach by visiting my website, www.drsaraiya.com

I am a psychotherapist (MHC-LP) at The Boundary in New York City, providing thoughtful, evidence-informed therapy for adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity concerns, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and insight-oriented, helping clients understand the patterns that shape their lives while building practical skills for stability, resilience, and meaningful change. I work especially well with students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves, offering a steady space where they can think clearly, process deeply, and grow at their own pace. Students can expect a grounded, nonjudgmental environment where their experiences are validated and their goals supported.
The students I work best with often share a desire to feel understood, supported, and empowered as they navigate college life, especially when their path doesn’t look like everyone else’s. I work with a wide range of college students including international students, first-generation college students, students from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds, as well as both traditional and nontraditional students. What they often have in common is that they’re carrying a lot, whether it's pressure to succeed, cultural or family expectations, feelings of anxiety, questions about identity and belonging, or simply the stress of trying to figure out who they are and what comes next. In our work together, we create space to explore these experiences without judgment. If you’re a student who’s juggling multiple roles, feeling out of place, or simply looking for support during a major life transition, you’re not alone and you don’t have to do it all on your own.
I am a board-certified, Cornell and Mount Sinai-trained adult and child psychiatrist in New York and California. My approach to treatment is holistic and firmly rooted in the science of the brain, combining psychotherapy (for individuals, families, and couples) with nutrition, lifestyle modification, as well as state-of-the-art medication treatment, when helpful. I view each person as a complex individual with a unique story to tell, so I take time getting to know my clients and work collaboratively to develop a targeted plan to achieve their treatment goals. I have expertise in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, tic, ADHD, ODD, personality disorders, and eating disorders in children, teens, adults, and in pregnant and breastfeeding women. I also work with adults transitioning into parenthood, and with infants and toddlers. I am available for consultations and second opinions. I do not accept insurance (payment is out of pocket), but I do provide invoices for out-of-network claims. I do not take medicaid or medicare at this time.

Hello! I'm Kat, and I'm here to be your go-to cheerleader and confidante. Welcome to a space where you can breathe a little easier and find the support you need to navigate the twists and turns of college life. My journey into counseling? I started with a passion for music, earning a double B.A. in Music Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College. Those years taught me so much about creativity and the power of education to inspire and uplift. But my path took a turn when I felt called to explore counseling as a way to help others in a deeper capacity. I pursued an MA in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. It's there that I discovered my passion for holistic well-being and specialized in Brainspotting—an incredible modality to bust through performance/creative blocks and tackle the harder stuff like trauma. In our sessions, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can truly be yourself. I firmly believe in your ability to overcome challenges and shape the life you desire. Therapy doesn't have to be all serious and introspective. We'll sprinkle in some humor, passion, and empathy along the way. So, if you're ready to level up and tackle whatever life throws your way, I'm here for it. Shoot me a message and let's kickstart this journey together.
