I love working with college students and young adults. I understand what a complex and sometimes overwhelming time of life this can be; whether you find yourself struggling with anxiety, depression, or difficulty navigating your relationships, I am truly passionate about supporting my clients in their process to gain deeper self-understanding and foster personal growth through self-compassion. I work from a place of genuine curiosity and respect each person’s path as unique. I take a warm, supportive, and collaborative approach, using the information that you present (or, in some cases, avoid) to help you make sense of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be undermining your relationships and productivity.

My name is Scott Graybow. I am a psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience and extensive post-graduate training. I welcome the opportunity to help you work on the issues that bring you to therapy. I understand therapy to be a cooperative effort in which we work together to help you engage with your mind, your environment, and your relationships. Therapy is pragmatic yet deeply meaningful; we simultaneously focus on immediate problems and opportunities for long-term growth. Throughout our work together, I strive to offer help that resonates with your individual needs and preferences. I work with young adults, adults, seniors, and couples. People who work with me are often seeking help for depression, anxiety, trauma, sexuality/intimacy, LGBTQ issues, self-esteem, religion/spirituality, work/life balance, men's issues, and the emotional impact of navigating challenging life transitions. As your therapist, I work to help you understand yourself so you can grow, be more effective, and cope better with the problems that bring you to therapy. I earned a PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center and an MSW from Columbia University. I completed postgraduate psychotherapy training at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society. Besides private practice, I’ve worked as a therapist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Washington Square Inst., and Montefiore Medical Center. I also have experience teaching clinical practice classes to graduate-level social work students and publishing/presenting peer reviewed articles about psychotherapy and other mental health topics.

Your emotional wellness is not a luxury – it’s a necessity in an ever-changing society. In order to create real change in your life, you must care for your mental health needs. I provide quality therapy for young professionals in NYC, couples therapy, and perinatal therapy. No matter what your age or relationship status, if you’re here it’s because you’re looking to make a change. Maybe you don’t feel good enough – you’re insecure and not sure what your next step is. Or perhaps you’re overloaded with tasks and your anxiety is through the roof, you’re feeling so overwhelmed that you don’t even know where to begin. Living in a world of anxiety and worry takes a toll on your mental health. If you find yourself not feeling good enough, or you’re taking care of others instead of yourself, it might be time to seek help. I support people going through major life transitions such as becoming a parent, starting a relationship or dealing with the breakup, having work-related stress, becoming an entrepreneur, or getting through graduate school. I also work with clients who suffer from low self-esteem and those who feel like there’s something in the way of enjoying life. By providing safe and supportive space in therapy, I empower clients to feel good about themselves, build resiliency and take steps towards greater happiness. In my practice, I believe that therapy shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all experience. I utilize elements of CBT, Internal Family Therapy, Mindfulness, and Gestalt therapies which are tailored to your unique needs. You will learn coping skills to manage anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, social anxiety, and criticism. Inclusive Psychotherapy in New York for Adolescents, Adults, and Couples/Relationships You worry all the time about being judged by other people. You feel disconnected from your body and, at the same time, feel like it’s all you think about. You question what you say, how your body looks, if you’re doing things “right,” and there are so many times when your mind feels like it’s on a hamster wheel that you can’t stop. You’re on edge all day and sometimes feel like you may be having a heart attack. You don’t feel like you fit in anywhere. You’ve been made fun of for many different parts of who you are. You’ve been called weird or misunderstood at work, in your family, and even in some of your dating relationships. You’ve struggled to find someone who feels like a good fit romantically, and you’re worried there’s something wrong with you. From the start, we want you to know that at Meadow Therapy, we believe you have inherent worth simply by being born. Throughout your life, you’ve learned tools for survival that may no longer feel like they serve you. We can help you shift those survival skills using Mind to Body Psychotherapy. Mind to Body Psychotherapy is a mix of body-based work, exploration of childhood hurts, the neuroscience of emotions/emotional regulation, and other concrete coping skills, that will help you tap into your inner resources. You already have many creative tools you’ve used for survival. One of our goals is to help you move out of survival mode into having a thriving and fulfilling life. We offer inclusive therapy for adolescents and adults, couples therapy, and group therapy. Using Mind-to-Body Psychotherapy, we can help quiet your harsh thoughts, soothe your racing heart, and calm your body. We specialize in working with trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Trans and Gender-Nonconforming, Self-Harming, Addicted, fat/larger-bodied, disabled, kink/BDSM, and polyamorous people. We see you as the flora and fauna that come together harmoniously in the meadow. Email us for a FREE consultation - info@meadowtherapy.com

I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and young professionals through life transitions, relational challenges, and forging identity. Prior to going into private practice, I worked for New York University's Counseling and Wellness Services, seeing the university's dynamic undergraduate and graduate students. I often see those grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relational concerns, or sexual concerns. I have a specialty in working with eating and body image concerns/disorders from a Health At Every Size lens. I have niche expertise in concerns related to bariatric (weight loss) surgery and dramatic weight loss. I am LGBTQIA+ allied and often work with those exploring gender and sexuality. I work from a psychodynamic, attachment-based framework, and blend tangible skills to help alleviate your pain in the day-to-day and enhance your relationships. I am a person first, therapist second, and may utilize my own reactions and feelings to help us better understand your relationships in the world. From me, you can expect curiosity, warmth, and lots of questions about your experience to make sure I get it right. I try to leave you with interpretations of your challenges, new ways to think about your current circumstances, and things to try differently.

As a licensed mental health counselor with more than seven years of experience, my work centers on supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship challenges, adjustment disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. Warmth, integrity, and cultural competence guide everything I do. In our work together, I create space to explore vulnerability, deepen personal understanding, and move toward meaningful change. Discovering your thoughts and feelings in therapy deepens your insight into how you move through the world and who you truly are. Beginning therapy is a significant commitment, and I don't take that lightly. The strength of the patient-therapist relationship is, in my view, the most important factor in your ability to heal and grow. That's why I strive to build authentic rapport that fosters genuine curiosity, safety to make mistakes, shared humanity and humor, and direct but empathic honesty. Creating this environment that feels supportive and non-judgmental is always my first priority. There is never a challenge too small or too large to address in therapy, and I believe it can be a profound healing experience when you have a trusted therapist you can rely on. There is real value in reflecting on your past experiences to understand how your foundation has shaped you. Our early relational experiences significantly impact attachment styles, and in the present, we often seek out situations that feel familiar even when they no longer serve us. Through this process of exploration, we work together to transform unconscious habits into conscious choices. Central to that work is how you view yourself. Building an empathetic inner world, where self-compassion rewires how your brain responds to stress, is an essential part of the therapeutic process. That clearer view of yourself improves the quality of your choices, ensures your decisions align with your core values, and helps you recognize and overcome fears, dismantle implicit cycles, manage insecurity, and strengthen your communication. This kind of self-awareness becomes especially important during life's transitional moments, when developing healthy cognitions and habits provides a framework for emotional stability and long-term resilience. Together, we can identify maladaptive thought patterns, explore cognitive reframing, and practice reduced reactivity to manage stress and build emotional regulation over time. Throughout all of it, you remain the true expert on yourself. The goal is always a collaborative partnership, one where the safety of a strong therapeutic alliance gives you the freedom to grow toward your most personal goals. My role as a helper and listener began as the oldest sister in my family and grew through many meaningful professional experiences. Before becoming a therapist, I offered career counseling to adults with disabilities, helping them develop self-advocacy skills, build independence, and practice radical acceptance. I also supported college students as they navigated the unique pressures of campus life and the challenges of emerging adulthood, exploring together questions of identity, relationships, and purpose. These experiences deepened my commitment to becoming a therapist. Over the years, I've developed a clinical identity grounded in continuous learning. Every session offers fresh perspective and a deeper understanding of the human experience. My approach is tailored to each person's unique needs, and I am committed to evolving alongside my patients by incorporating creative modalities and evidence-based treatments. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, watching movies, being creative, and exploring new museums and restaurants around the city.

We are a team of therapists who work with students and young adults navigating stress, identity, and the feeling of having to hold everything together. Many of the students we support are balancing different expectations from family, culture, and their own goals. Some feel caught between different worlds, while others find themselves overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling disconnected from who they are. As a team, we are especially attuned to the experiences of students from multicultural, international, and Asian or Asian American backgrounds. We understand how identity, family dynamics, and expectations can shape the way you move through the world. In this Kind Space, your voice is valued, your story is honored, and every part of you is welcomed. Together, we work to uncover what matters most, address challenges in a way that feels authentic, and build strategies that help you feel grounded, empowered, and more connected to yourself.

I believe that physical and emotional safety and connection within a therapeutic relationship can help clients access and heal their relationships with themselves and others. For this reason, I deeply value the relationship I form with clients. I offer support with empathy and curiosity, as you move through old feelings, bring attention to your present experience, and build trust within yourself. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, with the goal of reducing feelings of shame and self-judgement. I will reflect and validate your experience, notice what might be happening in the moment, and encourage self-reflection. Trauma can block our ability to heal, and I have deep grounding in approaches that create a holding environment, gently and gradually building safety and trust. I can support you as you increase your capacity to heal, through sharing and corrective experience, so that you can experience more regulation and joy in the present. I work with adults and adolescents. Some of the issues I work with are anxiety, depression, and life transitions, as well as grief and loss. I’m an LGBTQ-affirming clinician and have experience working with issues particular to LGBTQ+ folks. I have extensive training and experience in developmental trauma treatment and attachment-oriented approaches. I have training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I’ve also been a hospice volunteer, and completed trainings in grief counseling and end-of-life doula work. Other areas I’ve trained in are cultural humility, working with shame, treatment strategies for habits and addictions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and psychedelic therapy for end-of-life anxiety and palliative care. I graduated with a BA in English from Barnard College, an MS.Ed. in Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College, and an MS.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Hunter College. I have over 15 years’ experience as a trauma-informed, early childhood special educator and mental health consultant. It would be an honor to connect with and bear witness to your process.

I help people overcome their personal psychological barriers so they can live a more meaningful, authentic life. I provide compassionate, holistic care to all of my clients, supporting them through challenges in relationships, major life transitions, grief and loss, acculturation difficulties, and uncertainty about their path forward in life. I have particular expertise in helping young adults, including college students and those who recently graduated. I worked for several years in college counseling centers and have built on this specialization in private practice, developing a deep understanding of the challenges and uncertainties inherent in this phase of life and how to guide patients through them. I also have considerable experience with those struggling with traumatic or abusive relationships—whether during childhood or as an adult—as well as other forms of trauma. I’m also extremely effective with clients who—short of trauma per se— had or are currently experiencing difficult relationships with parents or other family members. In addition, I have substantial background in helping people who identify as LGBTQ+. That includes people who are just beginning to think about themselves outside of a hetero-normative framework as well as people who started that process earlier in life. Though I have specific expertise in these areas, I welcome all patients. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University, and have a breadth of experience in many settings ranging from college counseling centers to inpatient hospital units. This equips me to help patients from diverse backgrounds, life experiences and identities who may struggle with a wide range of emotional concerns. I currently work at The Flatiron Center for Psychotherapy, where I tailor my person-centered, humanistic, trauma-informed approach to craft the most effective treatment for each client.

Many of the clients I work best with are international students navigating life far from home—often balancing academic pressure, cultural adjustment, and questions of identity and belonging, all while holding emotions they may not feel safe expressing elsewhere. They may appear high-functioning on the outside, yet feel disconnected, lonely, or uncertain inside. Our work together offers a space to slow down, make sense of what they’re carrying, and reconnect with parts of themselves that have been silenced or split across languages, cultures, or expectations.
