Welcome I'm Melissa and I'm so glad you landed here! I work with young adults who are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges—whether it’s relationship struggles, a constant worry loop that you can't get out of, low mood, struggles with food and body image, or difficulty with change. If you're reading this, you might be feeling out of balance or disconnected from what’s meaningful to you. Maybe you’re not sure what’s meaningful right now. You could be stuck in old patterns that no longer serve you, unsure about your next steps, or just know something feels "off" without being able to explain why. Or maybe you just need a safe space to explore it all. Whatever you're experiencing, it’s all valid—and it’s all welcome here.

As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), I work with individuals and families navigating life across a variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and identities. I work particularly well with kids and teens (ages 5–17), college students, and adults, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, supporting them through anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the kind of stressful situations that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or unsure of where you belong. My personal experience in therapy has been profoundly transformative, and it’s that firsthand understanding of what genuine, effective care feels like that drives my commitment to providing it. If you're carrying the weight of difficult emotions, searching for your sense of purpose, or trying to build more meaningful relationships and you're not sure where to start, that's okay. We'll figure it out together. I believe healing happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, messy, and to move at your own pace, even when that feels like navigating a storm you can't see through. I don't come into sessions with a script; I come with genuine curiosity about you specifically, and a warm but grounded approach built around you, not a formula. Our work together is your umbrella in the storm, the light on the horizon, and, eventually, the clearing. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), adapting to what you need session to session. Together we'll build real insight, practical tools, and ways forward that feel sustainable and true to who you are. Before becoming a therapist, I spent four years working in community and supportive housing, where I served individuals navigating untreated and under-treated mental illness while trying to maintain stable lives. What struck me wasn't just how much they were struggling; it was how many barriers stood between them and the real support they needed. I became a therapist because I believe mental health care isn't a luxury, it's infrastructure. And everyone deserves access to it. Outside of the office, you'll find me on a yoga mat, at a Pilates class, or at a restaurant trying something I've never eaten before. I love spending time with my husband, and when we're not home, there's a good chance we're somewhere on the opposite side of the world. International travel isn't just a hobby for me, it's a reminder that there are as many ways to live a meaningful life as there are people living them, and that perspective finds its way into my work every single day.

I strive to be a supportive therapeutic partner who provides a safe compassionate environment for students who want to develop a better understanding of themselves. I believe that students are better able to explore aspects of their lives that may be difficult or painful when they feel heard and validated. My approach is based on integrating a collaborative, strengths-based psychodynamic focus with behavioral treatment models and an understanding of where students fit into their family systems. This enables students to gain insights and examine opportunities for self-compassion, understanding, acceptance, growth, and change. I can provide support with anxiety, social anxiety, relationship issues, perfectionism, and a variety of other issues students experience. I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Yoga. My style is compassionate and collaborative.

Training and experience are essential but the therapeutic connection is equally important. One of the best ways to determine if I may be the right fit for you is to read directly from those I’ve worked with. Testimonials available @ https://www.healthgrades.com/providers/holly-silva-xyldnwq Considering the importance of find the right therapist—someone you connect with and who will be available when challenges arise—it’s worth choosing a clinician you can work with not only now, but in the years ahead. This continuity allows you to avoid having to start over or retell your story each time new issues emerge. *Contact me for a complimentary 15-minute consultation @ 860-222-4211. ________________________________________ TRADITIONAL & NON-TRADITIONAL APPROACHES I offer traditional and non-traditional therapeutic approaches, tailored to how each individual processes & heals best. MOVEMENT-BASED TREATMENT: Engage in therapy while staying physically active—benefiting both mind and body. Some options include: -Walk & Talk -Hike & Talk -Golf & Talk -Dink & Talk (Pickleball) CREATIVE & EXPRESSIVE TREATMENT: Designed for individuals who process emotions most effectively through creativity and self-expression. Some options include: -Art -Music/Lyrics -Writing -Film -Gardening -Lunch/Coffee *Depending on location, the services above may be offered in person, with many also available virtually. ________________________________________ WHY A NON-TRADITIONAL APPROACH? Research shows that many people feel more comfortable when not sitting face-to-face. Nature, movement, and alternative environments often create deeper emotional openness and personal breakthroughs. ________________________________________ FLEXIBLE FORMATS -In-Person -Virtual (Computer/Mobile) -Phone ________________________________________ SPECIALITIES -Anxiety & Depression -Relationship & Interpersonal Challenges -Career & Academic Stress -Burnout & Life Transitions -Self-Esteem -Trauma, including *Sexual Abuse -The Unique Challenges of Wealth -Group Therapy ________________________________________ UNDERSTANDING THE “WHY” Sustainable change requires understanding the root of our behaviors—why we think, feel, and respond the way we do. That insight is at the core of the work we’ll do together. ________________________________________ HAPPINESS & GOAL ORIENTED GROUPS Available for: -Universities -Families & Friends ________________________________________ A PERSONAL NOTE: MY FORENSIC WORK RELATED TO SEXUAL ABUSE As a survivor of sexual abuse, I became deeply driven to understand why—why someone would inflict such harm. That question led me into forensic psychology, where I spent 10 years treating sexual offenders, individuals widely despised by society. Over time, I realized that preventing future harm required helping offenders understand the origins of their actions. Few psychologists—especially survivors who fully grasp the impact—choose this path. But I knew that without effective treatment, the cycle continues. My mission became clear: NO MORE VICTIMS. ______ Holly A. Silva, Psy.D. Licensed Clinical Psychologist CT | NY | VA 📞 860-222-4211 📧 drhollysilva@gmail.com
