Each person we meet in life experiences things differently and has struggles that are unique to them. Because of this, we believe that effective therapy is never one-size fits all. Our training and experience enables us to offer specialized care for a variety of mental health disorders. Our goal is to bring comfort to each client by utilizing an eclectic therapeutic approach with an empathic, person-centered focus being at the core of everything we do. Our facility serves clients in Utah and Oregon via telehealth services.
I believe that feeling heard is where healing begins and I strive to provide a nonjudgmental, safe space for you to feel heard and understood. I am passionate about working with people that are struggling and want to work towards achieving their best life, with more peace and joy. I specialize in working with clients that have experienced trauma and/or are struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety and having difficulty with managing emotions and stresses. My goal as your therapist is to support you in clarifying your needs, your goals, find meaning in life and become the best version of yourself. If we choose to work together, I will do everything I can to make sure you feel heard, respected and understood. It would be my honor to support you in setting and achieving your goals.
We are a client centered organization that employs evidenced based treatments in a caring, safe, and non-judgmental environment.
I work with people in transition or who are preparing for change. Artists, actors and writers. Those in bereavement. Or who are living with a catastrophic health-related diagnosis, recent or of long duration. Caregivers. Mental health interns who need to explore their own issues in order to practice mindfully. Folks who are using substances more than they want. People who want to decrease their distress but who also have a curiosity about its sources. People who want to talk with someone about the most important thing in the world, perhaps to discover what that is. My specialty is the intuitive analysis of what is most important to you. My experience has shown me that we carry within us the answers we're looking for. My skill is in eliciting these answers and reflecting them back to you so you recognize them. I've been trained in Depth psychology, Narrative psychology and Cognitive Behavior therapy, in dream analysis and evidence-based practices like Seeking Safety. In addition to private practice I've directed multiple community mental health and recovery programs, as well as provided training and clinical supervision to new therapists.
My clients are often women (but not always) seeking clarity and support around their current life situations, changes, and challenges - Maybe it's trying to work on their self-esteem, while balancing work and/or their studies and social and interpersonal relationships. Maybe it's processing loss/grief/change - including an influential person, a job, a move to a new city, a role in life (parenting). We can identify and practice shame resilience skills. We go through change all the time, and you don't have to be alone with it. My approach is described as active and supportive. I work with clients to address current issues and long-standing challenges. Applying sensitivity, empathy, and compassion, I help individuals bring resolution to a wide range of life challenges and clinical psychological issues. I have also worked in the addictions arena for 17+ years and have experience in alcohol and other substance addiction work. As well as some experience in working with compulsive behaviors such as gambling, shopping, and internet usage.

My work is to support you in realizing your most authentic, integrated self. I offer holistic, mindful somatic psychotherapy (Hakomi method), to create deep and lasting growth and change. In our work together we'll turn towards your physical sensations and emotions, for the sake of the information, and to allow integration and wholeness, and a future that does not look like your past. A respect for the intelligence of nature, Jungian archetypes, Eastern Philosophies (having spent 20 years as an acupuncturist), and a love for writing and creative practices is woven into my work. I love supporting women in life change. Relationship loss and grief, career shift or desire to shift, perimenopause, empty-nest, or partnering - these are times ripe for discovery and exploration. Therapy can support your evolution - find deeper connection with yourself and others, heal unresolved hurts, embody your strengths, develop a stronger identity and self-worth, and discover direction or post-traumatic growth. Anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth and relational issues - through this process of witnessed self-reflection, you'll develop greater insight, capacity to interrupt self-defeating patterns, and opportunity to create more aligned choices and preferred experiences in your life. Hello! I’m Jackie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (which is just a fancy way of saying therapist). I’ve been serving teens and adults as a mental health therapist for the past ten years in (and around) Portland, Oregon. I worked for 5 years at a community college as a counselor and taught various courses such as college success and career exploration and understand the variety of challenges college students face with mental health, relationships, finding their path in life and more. My passion has always been in helping people through their life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and other life challenges. I am excited to share that I am EMDR trained and hold a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate and hope to incorporate those tools into therapy. Making the decision to start therapy isn't always easy, particularly when you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and even hopeless. But, I assure you I will do my best to meet you with compassion and provide a safe space for you to talk openly and feel understood. I invite you to contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to ask any questions you have and to discuss your therapy goals. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I am of the mindset that equity and trust are essential to working together to find solutions and gain awareness. While I am informed on a wide range of therapeutic approaches and I use what is best for each individual client, I tend to lean towards using Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Therapy, and Narrative Therapy styles. I like for our work together to be interactive and empowering with the understanding that there are systems we may have to work with, in, or around.

Hello, and welcome! I am glad you’re here. My name is Madz (she/they). I am a white, able bodied, queer person.  I truly believe there is bravery in slowing down with someone else and beginning to consider that your pain could use another heart to hold it. In our work together, I hope to help empower you to build a curious and understanding relationship with the distressed, normal, and brilliant parts of you that have been managing your suffering within the context of relationship challenges, family of origin difficulties, systemic injustice, and isms. Equally as important, I hope to support you in connecting with and caring for your younger self that might still be holding the burdens of past trauma. I deeply value working to offer folks a new relationship in therapy. One where collaborative planning with your nervous system will help to support us in centering a reparative experience. My approach is warm, compassionate, and curious. As someone who has struggled with knowing where myself and another ends and begins, I prioritize highlighting all that you already know about yourself and will support you in noticing and listening to your own voice.  I draw from Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused, Psychodynamic, Polyvagal, Intercultural Counseling, and Somatic Interventions. I have historically worked with trauma survivors, LGBTQ/Queer identified folks, folks with challenging family of origin relationships, and relationship issues.
Therapy offers the opportunity to make lasting positive changes in life and in relationships. By exploring the role the past has played in current difficulties and dissolving old, destructive patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, life can be more balanced and joyful. As a licensed therapist, Christopher offers warmth, compassion, support, and insight to this process, with an approach that is direct, non-judgmental, and tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. Utilizing cognitive-behavioral, emotionally-focused and schema-based therapeutic strategies, Christopher works primarily with individual adults and couples, specializing in depression, anxiety, communication impasses, life transitions, drug and alcohol, loss, abuse, and trauma. Therapeutic change is facilitated by working towards collaboratively building upon inherent strengths and gaining insight into childhood origins of insecure attachment patterns while recognizing how these habitual patterns might be related to current problems. Utilizing the art of non-judgmental awareness – mindfulness – Christopher explores these themes with his clients, by helping them holistically connect with the memories, emotions, thoughts, and bodily sensations fundamentally associated with the destructive, repetitive cycles individuals often struggle with. In this way, individuals are empowered to challenge these negative cycles and inevitably bring a greater sense of control, clarity, and balance back into their lives, while awakening inherent wisdom to more adaptively cope with life’s many challenges. Christopher obtained his Masters's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University and currently works as a mental health therapist in private settings and at the hospital psychiatric ICU. Christopher enjoys working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds and lifestyle orientations.
William Temple House works with 26 or more volunteer, staff, and intern therapists to provide affordable counseling to the people of Portland. We offer sessions for low or no cost - our hope is that finances are not ever a barrier to people receiving counseling. We are committed to providing supportive and impactful counseling services that are based on the client's preference and need. Our services are all person-centered, strengths-focused, and trauma-informed. Because we work with so many therapists the information about our providers, modalities and approaches, and specialties changes regularly - if you are looking to work with someone of a particular identity or specialty that you do not see listed now, check back in the future. All of our counselors are trained and supported to work with people of identities different from their own with intentionality, sensitivity, and thoughtfulness and they all undergo continuous supervision to ensure they are meeting the needs of the individuals they work with.
